Iris Hughes Obituary
Iris was an active member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, teaching both Sunday school and Training Union classes. She was also Parliamentarian for the S.C. Chiropractic Women's Auxiliary.
Iris is predeceased by her late husband, Dr. Douglas B. Hughes Sr.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean E. Hughes of Avondale Estates, Ga., Carol Pearce Taylor (Ed) of Sylva, N.C. and Sandra H. Harmon (David) of Rock Hill; son, Dr. Douglas B. Hughes Jr. of Rock Hill; six grandchildren, Dr. Brian Hughes (Iva), Hailey Hughes, Hannah H. Gore (Chris), Laurie Osmond (DJ) and Jamie Harmon, all of Rock Hill, and Will Pearce of Sylva, N.C.; and three great- grandchildren, Ayden Hughes, Brady Hughes and Bellamy Jo Gore.
Iris was a kind and generous person, reaching out to all she met, and she loved to share her garden with family and friends. She showed God's love in all areas of life and will be remembered through all the ones she touched.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Interment followed at Laurelwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Hughes' memory to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730; or the charity of your choice.

The Finest Lady I ever met! She was a Wonderful Mom and Grandma to us all! To know my Mom was a Real Treasure as she inspired everyone she met with True Love and Acceptance! So Blessed to have been raised by This Wonderful Christian Lady! I miss your Loving Smile but, in my mind, I See It Every Single Day in every Happy Thought! Thank You Jesus for giving me such a Wonderful Christian Mom!
