Andrew Duncan Obituary

Duncan, Andrew McClugage 1971- 2012 There was a touch of Ferris Buehler in Andrew, and he charmed many. But a 1991 auto accident left him paralyzed, blind, and mute. From being a bright, athletic 19 year-old, he became an invalid who could only feel and hear. He expired February 20, 2012 from pneumonia and cancer, finally finishing the dying process that began 20 years earlier.

Son of James and Kathryn Duncan, younger brother to Jim and Mike, Andrew grew up in Buena Park and Fullerton, attending Emery School, Buena Park Junior High School, Sunny Hills High School, and Fullerton College. He became a fine tennis player at Sunny Hills Racquet Club and treasured time spent on his skateboard. Most of the last 20 years were spent as an appreciative resident of Angel View in the Palm Springs area.

St. Philip Benizi in Fullerton, the church where he was baptized and

confirmed, will be the site of his wake and funeral liturgy, at 10:30 a.rn. February 27. The family prefers that any memorials go to Angel View (angelview.org) or St. Philip Benizi Parish (benizi.us/) or St. Joseph Hospice Care (sjo.org). McAulay & Wallace Mortuary

I was 10 when I met Andrew. I was the shy, new kid in school and I immediately admired him. He was the best athlete, smartest, tough as nails and was clearly the leader of the 5th grade. He was always kind to me and we never fought. He excelled at anything he wasn't bored with. He led all of our friends to strive to be great, just by example, not words..God Bless Andrew's family, friends, and all his loved ones..We will always love you brother..

You are all in my prayers. I am so sorry for the loss of Andrew. I have so many great memories of him that I cherish. When i think back to our time spent together as young teens at Sunny Hills Raquet Club, I remember all of the happy, fun times playing tennis, breakdancing and causing trouble. The thoughts of him make my memories so much brighter. I will always remember him!
