With the passing of his sister yesterday, Teri Garr, it brought back memories of know Ed at St Joseph hospital in Santa Ana, Ca. He was also an actor, and a funny, upbeat and energetic man. My best memory of him was in the Dr's lounge right after Teri had done her Hanes underwear commercial, and one of the docs called out to him, "Hey Ed! When are you going to do an underwear commercial!?" He responded without missing a beat while rubbing his belly, "Yeah, I could do the 'Real Man' line!" Still makes me laugh. I hope this memory helps you know the impact he made on others.

I was blessed to meet Dr Garr in 1998 for repair of a severe ankle injury. He personally wheeled me into the o.r. after a jump-clicking his heels and singing opera as he pushed the guerny down the hall. We shared talks re his mother and my father both suffering from Alzheimers at the time. His office decor was spectacular & sad when he left it to share space with another MD. I moved out-of-state, so just reading this obituary today May 2, 2022. He is sadly the third physician-friend who passed in the beginning months of 2019. Dr Garr was a great surgeon, and a great man. What a privilege to have known him.

Lisa, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I understand how hard it is to say goodbye, especially to a parent. Please know our family has you in our prayers and are sending positive vibes your way during this transitional time... which will never be easy or end. We only hopefully learn how to embrace what we're experiencing in the moment. Your father was truly a Sweet Soul when I met him it was beautiful & I could feel the outward positivity that he gave to everyone in his presence. Thus is a new chapter. Please feel free to contact me at 303-725-4313 at any time... I would love to reconnect with you.
