John Susnir Obituary
John Susnir of Yorba Linda, California passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017 after enjoying a wonderful life of 88 years. John was born March 20, 1929 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Elizabeth & Ivan Susnir. He graduated from Bell High School and went on to graduate from UCLA with a degree in engineering. John also earned postgraduate degrees in engineering from both UCLA and USC. In 1954, John married his first wife, Beverly Anne, and together they had five children, John, Christina, Thomas, Michael and Paul. In 1978, John married his second wife, Gloria Mary, and became step-father to Gloria's two children, Donna and Mark. John began his life as a native Californian, but has also lived in Calgary, Canada and Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. John spent his career with several top engineering firms and worked on a variety of special projects, including rockets for NASA's space program. Always full of energy, John continued his active lifestyle in retirement. He was an avid UCLA booster, a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, and a very active member of the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish in Yorba Linda, California. John loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends, gardening, watching sports, cooking and reading. John will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him, but he will always be with us in our hearts. John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gloria; their seven children, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and, as one of five children, his one remaining sibling, Martin. Prayer service with visitation will be held at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 19767 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda, CA 92886 on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 7:15pm. Visitation at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 9:00am with Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00am. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary

During 1974 - 1978, I was fortunate to have John as my Manager. We worked for Holmes & Narver on an ambitious nuclear power project (known as CRBRP) in Oradell, New Jersey. John was a good Manager and mentor to me. He knew how to run a project and keep his staff motivated. He would talk to us about his parents and children and was proud of his Croation heritage. I'll surely miss his kindness and fine sense of humor.
