SHAW, AILEEN BOOTH, the Daughter of Robert Carr Booth and Alice Urquhart Booth was born in Worcester, MA on March 22, 1912, joining her Brother, Donald Carr Booth born in 1904. The family moved to Miami, FL in 1918 where her Father served as Recorder for Mahi Temple for many years until his retirement. She graduated from the University of Miami, majoring in Theater and Modern Dance, studying under the famous Martha Graham. There, she met her future husband, Andrew Barrett Shaw. After graduation in 1933, they moved to New York City where they were married and were active in Theater and Radio. In 1938, they moved to Wilmington, DE and her husband began employment with the du Pont Company as an expert Linguist in Spanish in their Overseas Sales Department. In 1942, they moved to Bogotá, Columbia for five years, representing du Pont products, followed by five year assignment to Caracas, Venezuela, Havana Cuba, Lima, Peru, and Manila in the Philippine Islands. At each location, they were very active participants in both Acting and Directing many American Little Theater productions. After returning to Wilmington and upon retirement, they moved to Mount Dora and Winter Park, FL. Barrett Shaw, as he was known, was a very accomplished artist in Water Color and Oils and entered many Art Shows in Florida as well as at their summer residence in Rockport, MA. After her husband passed away from Cancer in 1986, Aileen moved to Maitland where she was active in the Maitland Art Museum as a Docent and an active member of the Morse Museum in Winter Park. In 1992, at 80 years of age, Aileen designed a very unusual new home which was built at High Point in Mount Dora. There, she became active in the Ice House Theater as a major supporter and participant in many of their committees. In 2005, she moved to Waterman Village, a retirement community in Mount Dora, and enjoyed an active life there. In 2009, she moved to Sterling House in Tavares. She departed on June 30, 2011 and joined her Mother, Father, and Husband in the Family Crypt at Woodlawn Park Cemetery in Miami. She is survived by two Nephews, Robert Carr Booth II of Cumming, GA and Bruce Lee Booth of West Chester, PA; a Great- Niece and three Great Nephews; four Great-Great-Nieces; and five Great-Great-Nephews.
