Alice Bischoff Obituary

Alice L. Bischoff, 81, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on December 7th surrounded by her family. Alice was a Charlotte native, attending Myers Park High until her family moved to FL. She graduated from Edgewater High in Orlando in 1956. She graduated from FSU in 1960 with a BS degree in food and nutrition. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Alice continued her degree as a Dietitian from Duke University medical center. She worked as a therapeutic dietitian in several hospitals enjoying the patient contact.

Alice married Robert Bischoff in 1967 and they lived in Chicago and Naperville IL. The joys of her life were the birth of her two children Scott and Lynn, and being "Nana" to her grandchildren Cody and Caroline.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents Bill and "Bee" Lupo. She is survived by her husband Bob of 52 years, son Scott and his wife Kathy and their children Cody and Caroline of Charlotte and her daughter Lynn and her husband Steve Konecny of Raleigh.

Alice's lifelong love of horses started when she first rode at the age of 3. She taught therapeutic riding to children who were mentally and physically handicapped in suburban Chicago IL and the Charlotte area. She also had a special place in her heart for Collies. Alice enjoyed traveling. She met her husband Bob on a trip to Scandinavia and the British Isles. Highlights included family trips in the United States, Europe and Venezuela and Alaska. She especially enjoyed her trip to Churchill Manitoba to see the polar bears with her daughter Lynn. Alice was thrilled to spend her 80th birthday in Jackson Hole, WY with her extended family. She traveled up until the end, and recently cruised the Great Lakes with her husband in August.

Alice loved her family. She enjoyed watching her son, Scott play soccer and fishing with him. Her granddaughter Caroline inherited her love of horses. She loved to watch Caroline show horses and her Grandson Cody play sports especially Lacrosse. An avid sports fan she cheered FSU and Duke. She claimed that her heart beat FSU Garnet and her blood ran Duke blue. She was also an original Hornet season tickets holder and attended many Panthers games. She and Bob moved to Brightmore Senior Living in 2015. Her door and balcony decorations for FSU, Duke, Hornets and Panthers as well as patriotic flags were well known at Brightmore. She particularly enjoyed all her horses, dogs and cats; and is remembered for her love of animals and generous donations to charities involving animal welfare.
