Anita Burris-Meyer Obituary

BURRIS-MEYER, ANITA M. Anita M. Burris-Meyer, Esq., 94, late of New York, Washington, and Boca Raton, FL, and widow of Dr. Harold Burris-Meyer, passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Dora, on 17 February. A graduate of the Baird School and Mount Holyoke College, class of '36, she earned her law degree at New York University, with additional studies in arts management at Harvard and Columbia. An accomplished pianist and actress on the New York stage, she married Harold Burris-Meyer in 1945 and served as partner and corporate lawyer for Control, Inc., a psycho-acoustical research and development and acoustical engineering design concern, retiring in 1964. She held numerous positions for non-profit arts councils, most recently as president and executive director of the Florida-Colombia Partners, Partners of the Americas, an arts, cultural and economic exchange between Florida and Colombia She is survived by her children the Rt. Rev. Anne S. Burris-Meyer and LCDR Peter W.
Burris-Meyer, and Jameson, her beloved Golden Retriever. There was a private ceremony; interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Golden Retriever Rescue. BEYERS FUNERAL HOME, Umatilla.

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful and talented woman. We'll miss her sunny smile and her almost daily walks with Jameson. Our prayers are with you Peter and family.
