Arthur Coomes

COOMES, ARTHUR JOSEPH, 71, of Altamonte Springs, FL. Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather passed away, June 1, 2003. He was born in Evansville, IN and moved to the Central Florida area in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Joan of 46 years; sons, Richard (Debra), Sanford and Randolph (Theresa), Orlando; daughters, Anita Coomes, Deltona, Theresa (Floyd) Goldberg, Richmond, KY; and Angela (Doug) Crews, Orlando; grandsons, Jason, Christopher, Taylor, Ryan, Nicholas, Jacob and Jeremy; three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Coomes entered the U. S. Navy in 1950 with Honorable discharge in 1953. He married in 1956 and worked at Whirlpool in Evansville, IN. He drag raced and won the World Series of drag racing in 1960. After moving to the Orlando area he was a member of the Orange County Trap & Skeet Gun Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and volunteered annually at Disney's PGA Tour Golf Classic since 1971.
