Carl Ouzts Obituary

Ouzts, Carl Carl Alton Ouzts, 86, of Maitland, Fl. went home to the Lord on 2/24/14. The Son of the late Mr. Ralph Brantley (Janie) Ouzts of Greenwood Cty., SC. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 yrs., Mary Irene Henderson Ouzts, Maitland, Fl. He is also survived by his 3 children, Barney Alton Ouzts, McCormick, SC, Shirley Ouzts Hill9Billy), St. Cloud, Fl., and Peggy Ouzts Galphin, Ninety Six/Greenwood, SC. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren. Shannon Hill Kitchen(Deeb-Paul), Ft. Myers, Christen Hill Haaland(Aaron), Winter Park, the late Jordan Allen Galphin, Ninety Six, SC, Garla Camak Galphin, Ninety Six, SC/Maitland, Fl, and Emily Jane Galphin, Ninety Six/Greenwood, SC. He also had 2 great granddaughters, Sariya Deeb Kitchen, Ft. Myers, Fl. and Alison Blaire Haaland, Winter Park, Fl. Carl proudly served his country in the US Air Force in Japan & the Philippines. A fine Christian man serving God faithfully as deacon for 60 years, most recently at his beloved First Baptist Maitland where he has been a member for 40 years. He was a generous, honest, hardworking & spiritual man with a sense of humor. Retiring from the USDA where he worked as an Analytical Statistician. He was a graduate of Clemson Univ. and a "Golden Tiger" alumnae. He was an avid golfer, earning 2 holes in one. Standing 6'5" he had a gentle nature, high moral standards, and a love for God and others. He will be missed by all who knew him and we rejoice that we will one day meet in heaven. Carl is also survived by his brother Cecil Ouzts(Sadie Mae), Plant City, Fl., and 2 sisters, Frankie Ouzts Sharpe(Leonard), Gilbert, SC, and Miriam Ouzts Raybourn Butler(Huey),Columbia, MS. He was predeceased by 5 siblings, Julian Ouzts, Alleene Ouzts McCormack, Monty Ouzts, Edward Ouzts, and Daisy Ouzts Cuatt. A memorial Service will be @ 4:00 Sat. 3/1/14, First Baptist Maitland. and funeral services will take place in McCormick, SC @ McCormick Baptist Church 3/6/14.

Carl "affectionally known as Shorty to me" was a great man to work with. I missed his smiling face and gentle attitude when he left the office. My heart goes out to your family. The service you had was wonderful.
