Charles Halgren Obituary

HALGREN, CHARLES GUY, 62, of Cocoa, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Born in Minneapolis Minnesota, June 22, 1941, Charlie has resided in Central Florida since 1984 moving to Brevard County in 1994 and ultimately Cocoa in 1996. Charlie was a veteran of the Air Force seeing active duty in the Guantonoma Bay during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He was a member of Our Saviour's Catholic Church, actively participating in the Church Stewardship Ministry through its Christ Renews His Parish Retreat Program. His dental industry career spanned nearly four decades and he was considered a pioneer in "four-handed, sit-down dentistry." He began his career as a territory salesman with Patterson Dental in Texas, and then joined Pelton and Crane Dental Manufacturing in Minneapolis. He became Pelton and Crane's National Sales Manager in Charlotte, NC prior to establishing his successful dental recycling business known as PERI Dental in 1985. PERI ultimately established the value of used dental equipment, not only in the United States, but throughout the world. In 1996, he sold PERI to Henry Schein, a national dental distributor. Charlie was a leader in his industry receiving many awards and recognition throughout his career. Charlie's charm, wit, and uplifting positive attitude, combined with his determination and unwavering faith during life, and his fight with cancer, has made an impact on many lives. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Halgren of Cocoa; his son Guy Halgren and his wife Barbara of Cocoa; his son Wm. Ryan Anderson of Altamonte Springs; his daughter Gina Schwiegrath and her husband Wayne of Apopka; his daughter Shannon Halgren of Tampa; his granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Keeley of Apopka, and grandson Noah Joseph Halgren of Cocoa.
