Christine "Chris" Dobbins

1962 - 2016

Dobbins, Christine Chrisnee Newkold, passed away at home in Orlando, Florida on Sunday August 14, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. She was predeceased by father Richard Newkold, and brother-in-law Steve Yuhas. She is survived by husband, Scot Dobbins, mother Judy Newkold, brother Rick (Riki) Newkold, sister Cathy Newkold, sister Maureen Yuhas, brother Tom (Larisa), brother Joe (Julie) Newkold, sister-in-law Debbie Polleck, brother-in-law Tom (Susan) Dobbins, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her beloved four-legged friend Molly. Born March 22, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio, Chris attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School, Dunbar & Belmont High Schools, and the University of Dayton where she graduated class of 1985. She earned her MBA at Webster University. Chris was athletic and collected numerous trophies in a wide range of sports including softball, Polo and Barrel racing. She played varsity softball for the University of Dayton. Chris moved to Orlando, Florida shortly after graduating from college. She worked in a variety of defense industry jobs before signing on with the U.S. Army as a civilian financial analyst. She served in this position for over ten years, including six years stationed in Heidelberg & Wiesbaden, Germany. Chris loved animals, Bruce Springsteen, hiking, and foreign travel. She never met a stranger. A memorial for Chris will be held Sunday August 21st from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oviedo Women's Club, 414 King Street, Oviedo, Florida 32765. Friends and family are invited to attend and share favorite stories about Chris from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, followed by a celebration in her honor from 3 - 6 pm.
