Christopher Peck Obituary

PECK, CHRISTOPHER HAVEN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Lake Rena Drive in Longwood, FL, on Sunday, July 31, 2011. He was 43 years old. Chris was born in Stamford, CT on May 19, 1968 to Robert and Dori Peck. His sister Anne was born in 1971. He moved to Longwood, FL in 1977 with his family and attended Sabal Point Elementary, Wekiva Elementary, Rock Lake Middle, Forest Lake Academy, and graduated with the Class of 1986 from Lake Brantley High School. He attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. He majored in Business Administration and was the national championship award-winning President of the Society for the Advancement of Management. He graduated with honors in 1990. He attended the Cummer School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and received his MBA in 1993. Chris lived the rest of his short life in Longwood, FL, where he owned a marble and granite fabricating company, A Different Perspective, with two fellow L.B.H.S alums, and pursued his musical dreams. To say Chris was a gifted man would be an understatement. He was a lifelong athlete, artist, musician, world traveler, and student of life. Chris participated in more sports, hobbies, crafts, spiritual disciplines, and career endeavors than can be listed here. He was a well known musician in central Florida and a much beloved yoga teacher, Kirtan student, and healer of sorts to many. Although he never married or had children he had several significant loves in his life who have been close to our family over the years. He is survived by his mother, Dori
MacDonald and her husband, Keith; his father, Robert Newton Peck and his wife, Sam; his younger sister, Anne Dixon; her son,
Steven Darios; her husband Barry and his children, Jordan and
Parker. He is also survived by his uncle, aunt, and two cousins. Please join us in honoring our son and brother at his memorial service to be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 6 pm at the Baldwin
Fairchild Funeral Home, 622 W. State Road 436, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. (407) 869-6065. A celebration of his life immediately following his memorial will take place at a location to be announced at the service. Any vital communications to the family should be sent to
[email protected]. The outpouring of love for Chris our family has seen since his untimely death has moved us greatly. We appreciate every condolence and offer of support. Opportunities for donations in lieu of flowers, will be provided at the memorial. Other special events organized in his honor are being posted on his Facebook page "Chris Haven Peck" where friend requests will be accepted for access. Chris...You left us too soon, we miss you immeasurably. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Watch over us forever and send us your light. You are ONE with God.

Chris,
You were so special to me when I needed a shoulder to cry on or for someone to hear me. Every time I would come see you play downtown Orlando I would get asked if I was your girlfriend because you would sing looking straight at me. I remember the second time we met when you surprised me with just learning the song with my name in it the day before. From matchbox 20 to bare naked ladies concerts, to wonderful talks at 3 in the morning, you were very special and will be missed.

"Any song, any key, any time." Some of the last words you spoke to me. Was just thinking about that today and got an email notice another friend had added to your book. Beautiful. Miss ya.

I just heard about you leaving our planet today...
Thanks for being a great roommate and inspiration during our retreat on the Big Island.
We are missing you, bro.

Chris, I only met you a few months before you died. Thank you for your stories. Thank you for loving my songs. Thank you for the walk and for being so honestly open. The night before the walk, I had said "Let's write an opera". When I came over the next day, you had made a lovely dinner, played your sitar guitar, and played for me the 2 hour opera that you had created the day before. So I sat there and listened to your opera. Then we took a long walk around the loop in your neighborhood. You told me how much you loved your lady, Tracy, and how you had never stopped feeling bad about leaving your marathon partner behind to go on and finish by yourself. I only saw you one time more, sitting in your car at the local shopping center. You joined me to go into the local bar, to meet with my husband and our two friends. You didn't say much. I thought you might be down. You slid away from the bar. That was the last time I saw you. I called a few times, but their was no answer. Two weeks later our friends told my husband of Chris Haven Peck's death. My husband waited a few days, and then, told me of your death. You had died the evening of that Saturday when I found you just sitting in your car. I am sorry you're gone. The world will miss you, I'm sure of it. -Barbara Ross

Wow I am still shocked that Chris has passed and words can't even describe what an amazing person he was to everyone. I had the privilege of meeting Chris in 2001 through my best friend and her husband. His zest for life was beautiful and I was quite envious of this. You couldn't help but smile when you were around him. Unfortunately the last time I saw him was almost 2 years ago because he had been traveling so much. I wish I had gotten a chance to see him more recently. Chris, you will be missed by so many and I hope to see you on the other side jamming out with your guitar!!

Love,

Angie~

Chris,
I was just recently getting to know you when you have been coming into Sam Ash. When I first met you, I was impressed by your gentle soul and charisma.
Every time after that, your warmth and good nature was always assuring.
Now, just getting to know more about what life you lived,
I am missing you more.
You were becoming a friend.

I met you through Natalie, whenChris walked into the Wyndham resort, people asked me if Chris was a celeberity. He had a light that was so bright it radiated. We spoke for hours and the connection was made. Chris entertained and people were drawn to him. What a personality. He taught me lessons in life that changed my career, I left the Wyndham and now pursue my dream......Thank you Chris I am so sad you are gone.

You taught me how to invest in stocks while I was your massage therapist. You called me happy spirit. Through you I met and massaged your dad who corrected my grammar during the massage:) I also met your beautiful sister Ann and her then little boy. I wish I could have met your Mother too. You cared deeply for the special loves of your life and I saw how well you treated them. We shared many fun talks about health and good food. We trained to do the New York Marathon and you were so understanding when I couldn't continue. Thanks for being like a big brother to me! You were always sharing and teaching and being YOU!! Andy's wedding was the last time I saw you and we ate amazing organic chocolate that you made! I will use your quote "it's not about being right, it's about being kind." I can't even believe you are gone and somehow I know you are all around. Thanks for who you are for the world and beyond...My condolences to the Peck family and friends.

Chris "Siri guroo dayv-ay name!" (I bow to the great wisdom within)! There are few that give without condition or want, Chris did; there are many who follow out of ignorance or fear, Chris did not.

He learnt embraced and lived the wonderful lessons of humility, forgiveness, tolerance, happiness, joy and love.
An enlightened human being and his spirit will glow in my heart for all memories i have of Chris were good.

Thank you, for all that we experienced from Black Rock to New York cities and beyond!

You understood freedom of expression and experience, you inspire(d) me with your philosophy and philanthropy.

Thank you my Burner Brother, i will say goodbye at the )*( temple as i am not able to come to Florida to say farewell to this earthly life.

My love and deepest condolences to Chris's family, it was an honor and a privilege to have shared some of my life highlights with your son.

Via Con Dios Chris!

We first met Chris in 2001 on a trip through the New Mexico desert going on a yoga retreat. We had the road trip of our lives and exploring with Chris changes your perspective on life.
His smile and energy is so inspiring and knowing him has been one of the most treasured experiences of our lives. He brought music and love to every moment and never let you forget to live and enjoy life.
He was the best man at our wedding and in our hearts. We are blessed to have known him and he will be loved forever. He is probably surfing moon beams and laughing at the sun. It is us left here behind that feel the sadness of this loss, because we have to face the rest of this life without him. We love and miss you Chris. See you on the other side. I met you when I was 16 and you were about 13 or so...at the Sweetwater Country Club one summer, we would hang out at the pool and I remember you were a lot of fun to be around, i looked forward to going to the pool and Country Club everyday...I remember you telling me and my friends that your dad was a writer and you pointing to where you lived....i didn't stay in touch with you (cause of our age difference, I am guessing) but everytime I would pass your house backed up to the Sweetwater County Club..my thoughts would go back to that summer...what fun times those were. My condolences to your family, dad, mom and sister and may they know they were truly blessed with such a talented and wonderful funny son and brother.... Keep singing and shine on in Gods Glory....you had a lot of friends who loved and adored you. Rest in Peace Chris....

I'm shocked and saddened by the loss of my brother in music. I've known Chris for 15 years. I made music with him, ran many miles with him, ate and drank with him. He was the most upbeat and sincere person I have ever known. He will be sorely missed. Godspeed, Chris.

Chris was my first yoga teacher in this area. I am moving back to Sarasota soon and knew I would miss him. He was an old spirit with a new attitude. He made everyone feel comfortable with themselves. Something many of us don't normally experience. My friends and family soon joined his class and felt the same peace. We saw him play at Positano's on Friday night and expected to be in his yoga class tonight. I hope he realized how much he meant to those who knew him. Go with God, my friend.

I first met Chris at the yoga class in Apopka with my mother. We were both amazed at the positive energy and level of comfort he created. I cannot believe after seeing him at Positano's on Friday night and having such a wonderful time... he is gone. Although I don't know him that well, I feel so much sympathy for his family and close friends. He sincerely touched so many lives. I hope he knew how much he meant to all of us. Namaste my dear friend.

Chris and I have been friends for over 12 years. The memories are too numerous to count and I will miss him greatly. Just as in life, as we have traveled and been apart (not seeing each other in years), so it is in death. We will keep traveling and in the end - it will be like time hasn't passed at all. We will just hug and say, "Hey! What have you been up to?!" and he will smile that big grin and his eyes will sparkle and we will have another adventure. He had a wonderful spirit, wonderful heart and was one of the most humble people I have ever known. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the rest who love him just as much, if not more than I do. Blessings.

Little did I know when Chris hired me to work with him at ADP that he would become such a large part of our lives. He was a teacher and a student (his Gemini personality), exploring life, searching, questioning, leading us to do the same. Always willing to listen to my thoughts, sharing his, answer my questions, asking questions of his own. He has a beautiful soul that will be missed here on earth. Chris, I believe you are soaring high, still guiding and learning. We will do our best to follow your lead and let our light shine while here on earth. You will be with us always.
