Donald Doebler Obituary

DOEBLER, DONALD W., 74, of Mount Dora, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2004. He was born to the late Walter J. Doebler and Ruth (Haines) Doebler on December 28, 1929, in North Tonawanda, New York. Donald served his country during the Korean War. He married Virginia Green in June 1951. They moved from New York to Florida in 1980. He founded Leisure Bay Industries in Orlando. Donald was a Trustee of The Antique Boat Museum, Clayton, New York, and also served as Past President of the 1000 Islands Chapter, Antique and Classic Boat Society. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eustis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Doebler, of Mount Dora; his son David R. Doebler (Donna) of Orlando; daughter Laura D. Tully of Knoxville, TN; his brother Gary H. Doebler (Mary) of Charlotte, NC; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, Catherine, and Timothy Doebler and Matthew Tully. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be sent in Donald's memory to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund 2727 S. Grove Street, Eustis, FL 32726 or The Antique Boat Museum "Seagull" Fund, 750 Mary Street, Clayton, NY 13624. Visitation is from 4-8PM on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, Mount Dora. Funeral Service will be at 2PM on Sunday, October 10, 2004, in the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Schmidt officiating. Interment will take place at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY. Arrangements are by Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, 1800 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, Florida. 352-383-8178.

I was saddened to hear of Donald Doebler's passing. My first job was at RDW and he was one of the best mentors, managers, and friends that I have ever had. I was glad to have had to the opportunity to work for him and with him. He will surely be missed by all those he has touched. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
