Doris McLeod Obituary

Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Bass McLeod, age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 16, 2021. Doris was a God-loving servant, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Doris's family was her most precious gift. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Dr. Robert "Bob" Geiger McLeod. She is survived by daughters, Kim McLeod Lett and Renee McLeod Graham (Jeff Graham); grandsons, Dillon McLeod Graham, and twins, Collin McLeod Graham and Austin McLeod Graham; sister, Faye Bass Parrish; and, predeceased by brothers J.B. Bass and Larry Bass.

Doris was born in Andrews, SC. She was the daughter of Joe Ben Bass and Dorothy Mae Tompkins Bass. Doris grew up in Georgetown, SC, graduated from Winyah High School, and received her B.A. in Religion from Furman University in Greenville, SC. At Furman, Doris was a member of the Furman Singers which was part of her life-long love of music. After graduation, Doris moved to Florida where she served on staff at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. This is where she met the love of her life, Bob. Doris was a dedicated homemaker. Her love for the Lord, her family, and her friends could be seen in everything she did and said. Doris was an active member of First Baptist Church Orlando and then later at Church on the Drive. She served on numerous committees, as Sunday School Director, and was a long-standing member of the choir.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 PM at Church on the Drive, 1914 Edgewater Drive. Memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund at ChurchontheDrive/give.org.

Hi Kim & Renee. I was very sad to hear that Aunt Doris had passed. I had been praying for her every morning. My sadness was only comforted by thoughts of her holding hands with Uncle Bob as they strolled through Heaven together with big smiles of joy on their faces. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Kim and Renee,. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of birth of your parents. They were always so willing to open their home to our large group of kids! I remember your dad trying (and failing) to help me with trig. Playing the "rhythm" game in your family room was always a blast. I'm thankful for the time they invested in all of us and for their dedication to the Lord. Good bless you all.
