Douglas Aanerud Obituary

Aanerud, Douglas , 77, set sail for his new duty station on September 1, 2016. On the dock waiting to greet his arrival and happily wagging their tails are his dogs Jocko and Bear. His presence will, of course, be ignored by Tigger, the biggest cat you ever saw! Previously deployed to his new duty station are his mom Margaret and dad Roy, brothers Don, Dennis and his sisters Doris and Diane. Doug began his earthly enlistment on September 11, 1938 in Chicago, IL. Gathered on dry land, telling his corny jokes and reminiscing about fun times together is his patient wife of 57 years, St. Nancy, his sons Dick and Damon and his favorite daughter, Denise. All 4 of his grandchildren, Dick, Danielle, Samantha and Desiree are still questioning the reality of his removable thumb, Great-granddaughter, Bailey Mae and future great-grandson, Luke will be forced to endure many years of stories about their great-grandpas'crazy antics. His youngest brother Robert remains in awe of his big brother. Doug, was a Master Chief in the US Navy, where, after achieving the enlisted equivalent of God, he retired. After spending a couple of years at home, being underfoot, he began a second career with the US Postal Service, working hard to not lose your mail. Master Chief Aanerud,s retirement ceremony was Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was piped aboard to Heaven by family and friends and assisted by Pastor Gus Davies

I do not know Your precious Douglas and only read his obit and wanted to convey my deepest sympathy and offer my congratulations on the best obit ever! I have no idea what led me to read it as it is not my habit to do so, but I am still smiling and laughing at your 's humor. Many more Blessings on your family, Shay Koegel PS this is my second attempt at commenting on obits which tells you I have never done this before.

Doug and I served together in Guantanamo Bay back in the mid-70's. We were friends as well as shipmates. I remember best his easy going manner and ready smile AND laugh. He will be missed.

Nancy, Dick, Damon and Denise and to all his family; please accept my sincere condolences.
