Francisco Carreon Obituary

Francisco Carreon, 87, of Bay Hill, passed away on January 15, 2022. This quietly intelligent, hardworking man spent a lifetime caring for and impacting the lives of others, as a physician, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed, and held dear in heart, always.

Born October 4, 1934, in Oton, Iloilo, Philippines, Francisco spent his youth diligently studying and dreaming of coming to the United States to practice medicine. With his vision guiding him, he attended the University of the Philippines Medical School and graduated in 1960. In 1961, alone and with little to his name, but his medical degree in hand, Francisco immigrated to the United States, where an internship awaited him in Connecticut. The journey to his personal practice as a Pulmonologist in Saginaw, Michigan, was a long and rigorous one that included a residency in Cincinnati and a fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Francisco met each step with determination, strength of spirit, and an incomparable work ethic.

During his time in Ohio, Francisco met Lourdes Caparas, whom he married in 1963. Together they spent the next 58 years devotedly building a family and life. With Lourdes at his side, as partner and office manager, Franciso built a thriving medical practice, first in Saginaw, and then in Altamonte Springs, Florida, where the family moved in 1982.

Francisco retired from his beloved profession in his early 70s, after which he spent time with his family, especially his five grandchildren. Throughout his life, he held fast to his faith, and his belief in the value of family, hard work, and providing care to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Monica Carreon, and his siblings, Josefina Pandan, Jesusa Carreon, and Antonio Carreon.

Francisco is survived by his wife Lourdes Caparas Carreon, his sons Benny Carreon and Patrick Carreon, his daughter Josephine Carreon Kenyon, and his grandchildren, Jett and Jarrett Kenyon, Kaiman and Mikaela Carreon, and Caleb Carreon.

There will be a small, private memorial held for Francisco this summer when his family can gather to celebrate his life and memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Francisco's name to the Holy Family Catholic Church of Orlando: https://www.osvhub.com/holyfamilyorlando/funds.
