Greg DeTardo Obituary

Greg S. DeTardo, 63, of Winter Park, passed away on December 30, 2022. He is survived by his three children Owen, Alexandra, and Maxwell, his mother Laverne, his brothers Doug and Mark, his favorite ex-wife Christine, and his long term partner Melissa Torreano. He was predeceased by his father Nicholas.

Greg was born in Hollywood, Florida and moved to Winter Park later in life. He graduated from Hollywood Hills High School in 1978, and later graduated from UCF. While in college, he was a brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and founded his company, Nutech National. Greg had an aptitude for business that not many others did. Aside from business, Greg was a loving father, friend, and companion. He had a zest for life and always lived to the fullest. Greg never met a stranger. He loved to travel, boat, and spend time with his family in the Bahamas. Greg was indeed larger than life. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park on Friday, January 6th, at 11am.

I just learned of Greg´s passing today. I have him to thank for the career I have today. I was a newbie CAD drafter with little construction experience and allowed me to work at his company. Looking back I was clearly unqualified but I made it work and it wasn´t easy. Of course if I didn´t put in the effort and hard work, I would never have lasted as long as I did. I could literally write a book on my NuTech years and it would be an action packed suspense thriller. Nowhere else have I ever been as fulfilled with my job role even to this day. In my mind I told myself I would come back to Greg and pay it forward, or it at least show him acknowledgement. Sadly I waited too long. I hope NuTech and his family is doing well.

I was shocked to just hear today of Greg's passing. I worked with him for many years during my tenure at Lockheed Martin, starting in the late 1990's. He was a great man and always enjoyed interacting with him. I don't think I ever observed anyone better at multi-tasking, especially when on the phone. He will be missed!!

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Greg and his security technology firm NuTech were of great assistance to me as the security manager/director for the local public school district. Always smiling with a great sense of humor, Greg was a joy to work with. I know his family and friends will miss him greatly. God now has an expert by his side to update the access control system on the pearly gates! May God give you peace in this difficult time.

We are shocked about the news of Greg´s passing. Our heartfelt sympathy to Christine, Owen, AG & Max. Greg was a great Dad and generous person. He added humor to all the events of the Boy Scout years at SMM. He always had great stories to share. His loss will certainly be felt by many.
