Howard Chase Obituary

CHASE, HOWARD E., age 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2007. He was born August 25, 1926 to the late Joseph and Minnie Chase in Grand Rapids, MI, where he attended Central High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served two and a half years during WWII. Following his return from service to his country, he attended business school and began a career in accounting. Howard enjoyed singing and was a member of the Metropolitan Choir of Praise. In 1972, he and his wife, Marjorie, relocated to Orlando, FL. Shortly after their arrival, he established an independent accounting practice as an Enrolled Agent. He was active in his church, serving nine years as Classical Treasurer for Classis Florida of the Christian Reformed Church, and was also a member of the Messiah Choral Society. Additionally, Howard volunteered with the American Red Cross of Central Florida, serving as disaster chairman and, later, as government liaison. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marjorie Nagelkirk Chase; his three daughters, Linda Shepard (Bill Fleming) of Newport News, VA, Victoria Brinks (Douglas) of Belmont, MI, and Joan Chase of Orlando, FL; his four grandchildren, Rebecca Cutter (David), David and Sarah Brinks, and Christopher Shepard; and his cherished friends, Norman and Karen Corbin. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in Howard's memory to the Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. A Memorial Service is at 1PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, 3900 S. Hiawassee Road, Orlando, FL. Arrangements are by CAREY HAND COLLISON FUNERAL HOME, 1148 E. PLANT STREET, WINTER GARDEN, FL (407) 877-6700.
