Irlo Bronson Obituary

Bronson, Jr, Irlo Overstreet , "Bud", 81, a rancher, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kissimmee on June 4, 1936 the son of Irlo, Sr. and Flora Belle Bass Bronson Bud was a lifelong resident of Kissimmee and a Florida Pioneer. His family settled in Osceola County in 1868. Bud graduated from Osceola High School, Georgia Military Academy and Oklahoma State University. From the time he was a young boy he worked as a cowboy in the family business, Bronsons Inc., becoming the ranch foreman and later the president, a position he held until his passing. In 1982, Bud was elected to the Florida House of Representatives where he served for eighteen years. The focus of his time as a legislator was spent on bringing awareness to the needs of his fast growing home of Osceola County. The county was rapidly moving from agriculture to a tourist destination. The pasture lands he had worked and loved as a young man were now subdivisions, hotels, and Disney World. Bud loved telling stories. He could keep a group laughing while telling tales of his relatives, his days camping as a cowboy working cattle, time spent in the State legislature or about his favorite dogs. Whether on the floor of the House chamber or at his hunting camp or in an easy chair at home, Bud would probably be found sharpening a favorite knife. Bud was a lifetime member of The Florida Cattleman's Association, the Silver Spurs and the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Duke Bronson, and their children, Robert Bronson, Irlo III (Kim)Bronson, Kellie Bronson, Haley(Jenny) Bronson, and JJ(Jeb) Moody. Eight grandchildren, Taylor (Zac) Matthews, Rylee Bronson, Matthew Bronson, Duke Bronson, Dean Bronson, Belle Moody, Anna Bronson and Jeb Moody. A private family burial service was held on November 22, 2017. Bud's family is grateful for the care given their father by Liz and Norma. The Bronson family is being cared for by CONRAD & THOMPSON FUNEAL HOME, 511 EMMETT STREET, KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA 34741 (407)847-3188
