James Callan Obituary

James Andrew Callan (56) passed away on July 28, 2021 in Orlando, Florida. Jim lived life well with faith, family and friends. A native Floridian, he was born in Orlando, Florida, was a student at St. Mary Magdalen School, a graduate of Lyman High School (1982) and Rollins College (1986), and a proud member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity with many life-long friends. Jim was married to Carmen W. Colon, his loving wife of 21 years whom he cherished. Professionally Jim worked in many fields. However, with his love of food and entertaining he gravitated to catering and worked for Arthur's Catering for many years. A favorite life experience combined his love of aviation and catering at the Oshkosh Air Show in Wisconsin. Jim enjoyed hiking, golfing, and most of all laughing. Jim surprised many with an unexpected phone call or a letter. He was quick to help his family and those in need. Jim was a deeply faithful man, who lived and shared God's word.

He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Valerie Callan, and brother Edward J. Callan, MD. He is survived by his spouse Carmen W. Colon, his twin-sister, Meg, sisters Lori, Monica and Ann, brothers Tom and Dan (Julie), his father-in-law Domingo Colon (Chefin), mother-in-law Elsa Vazquez, brothers-in-law Diego (Ednamarie), Javier (Yari) and Luis, and sisters-in-law Gloricela and Anne, nieces and nephew, Delaney, Claire, Paige, Matthew, Valerie, Crystal, and little Valerie. Jim is survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas, Connecticut and points beyond.

Too many smiling memories to pick one, or even a few. Separated by distance, always linked heart to heart.

No doubt that Jim will be missed by his family and friends, especially his by his wife Wally. Together they were a beautiful couple. I am sure that Jim is resting in peace now because he was a good husband, and a good friend for all of us. When I think about Jim during my prayers for his soul, I just see his smile and kindness. My deepest condolences. Life is but a dream.

I remember Jim at my dad, Albert Yurko's, 80th birthday party and the joy he always brought him and the rest of our family. My dad fondly referred to him as his favorite Callan, and Jim told him he'd make him a great meal to celebrate his birthday. They both had a shared love for good food. He was so fortunate to have such a sweet and kind wife that added to his quality of life. Our deepest condolences to Wally and family. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

My most sincere condolences to my friend Wally (Carmen W. Colon) and the Callan family. Jim was a good friend, I will miss him dearly. He was a very loving person to his wife, family and friends, a man of Christian values and also had a great sense of humor. He was also a great cook and would share his passion for cooking with his friends and family. I would always compliment him on how great the food was. I hope you are at peace in heaven, dear friend.
