James Scott Obituary

SCOTT, JAMES R., age 76, Clermont, FL passed away on June 24, 2004, due to complications from heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna L. Scott, and two sons, Cameron R. Scott, 36, of Ft. Lauderdale and C. Dana Scott, 34, of Indianapolis. A lifelong resident of northwest Indiana, James was born in Hammond, IN and resided in Munster, IN until retiring to the Kings Ridge Community, Clermont. James is proud to be a veteran of the United States Army in World War II, serving in Japan. After his active duty, he went on to graduate from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. While at Drake, he was a prolific athlete, honored so by being recognized as the only two sport letterman in the same year in school history, for track and field and baseball. James was also affiliated with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Drake. Upon graduating he went on to teach history at Hammond High School, where he also coached track, football and baseball. James went on to a successful career in Securities and Investment Sales until his retirement in 1994. James will always be remembered as a kind and dear husband, father, uncle and devout friend to all he knew. He will be greatly missed. It is the wish of the family to have a private funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make donations on behalf of James R. Scott, to Hospice of Lake & Sumter Co., 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778. Becker Family Funeral Home, Clermont, FL is in charge of the arrangements.

Sorry to see where 'one of the best' will no longer be around. I worked for West Bend selling Kitchen Craft Cookware, a competitor of Salad Master Cookware. We had a friendly competition, along with Clyde Ball back in Munster, Hammond, Gary, etc.
