Jere James Obituary

JAMES, JERE, 59, died on September 11, 2002 surrounded by the love and admiration of family and countless friends. Jere lived his life with an extraordinary level of compassion and love towards people of all kinds. His willingness to help others was demonstrated in countless and selfless ways. This was a man who believed that the purpose of life was to give of himself to benefit other people, and he demonstrated that belief with tangible and positive actions. In spite of how busy he may have been, he always seemed to have time for others, friends and strangers alike. He would take troubled youths into his home and with soft, loving words try to direct them towards positive goals for their lives. His greatest successes were measured not by what he accomplished for himself, but by the kindness and strength he bestowed on others. Jere lived his life at full speed. His professional life as an investigator was worked with an unrelenting search for truth and justice, and his private time was spent with a unique passion for life and living. Jere loved being on the tennis court and he would relish the opportunity to mentor others in the art of the game. He also treasured time he spent on the water: boating, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of nature. He loved to share all his pastimes with his family and friends. Jere leaves behind his mother, Eloise; his two brothers, Terry and Bill; and sister-in-law, Jody. He will also be deeply missed by his four nephews, and one niece with whom he always had time to share a joke, a pat on the head, or soft words of encouragement. Jere James was a good man, a kind man, and a loving man. He will be missed by those who knew him and those whose lives were influenced and changed by his gentle kindness and love. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2002 at 10AM at Delaney Street Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Rayburn and Rev. James Fortinberry will conduct the service. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Orlando.

I was terribly saddened to read of Jere's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I have fond memories of Jere when he, Terry and I, as young boys would ride our bicycles through the neighborhood. God Bless you Jere.

The earthly loss of Jere can not erase the great memories I have of Jere and Terry going with my family to The Keys fishing, diving and racing their boat. Jere's passing from this life is obviously a great loss, but prayerfully, a great gain for Heaven.

Terry, my sincere sympathy to you and your family. With loving memories from the past...
