Jesse Blankenship Obituary

Jesse Mark "Mo" Blankenship, 65, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 27th at home with his family in Winter Park after a long battle with heart disease.

Mo was born in Alabama but grew up in Orlando. Knowing he'd be a firefighter since childhood, he started as a volunteer with Lockhart Fire Department at the age of 17. When Orange County Fire Rescue was formed in 1981, he was hired on as a lieutenant with badge #0043. He served the department courageously until retiring in 2007.

He and Linda, his soul mate and the love of his life were married in 1985. Together with family and friends, he always enjoyed life to its fullest and will be deeply missed.

Mo is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda, son Shawn (Dawn), daughter Amanda (Michael), grandchildren Luna, Orion and Emory, mother Patricia, sister April, and niece Raivynn.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 31st 2021 at the First Congregational Church of Winter Park at 10 a.m.

Uncle Mo taught us the most important thing in life, spending time with family. It seems every decision you made was to put family first. That really resonated with me and made a lasting impression. Thank you for always being here for us and being a true example of an amazing father. We love you forever and cherish the wonderful memories we have. Rest in Peace

Loved seeing Mo at the Y. I nickmamed him Moo Moo, but never sure why! Also enjoyed monthly breakfast with a group that included Mo. You can only imagine those conversations at breakfast - nobody was off limits! Although he has been away from the Y for some time, people asked about him and he will be truly missed.

Mo was one of those amazing friends that I will always remember with love. He was at Lockhart Fire when I started work there in 1976 and was at the Training Division with me when he retired in 2007. I´m so blessed to have had Mo as a friend. One of a kind
