Joe was the first person to welcome me at Lockhart Middle. He was a true southern gentleman and a mentor to many.
I will remember Joe with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.
God Bless all of you.

I loved Joe dearly, When I came into education Joe was my go to guy for wisdom, advice, and just a soul to vent to. I will miss your witty spirit, your sense of humor, your love for the Magic, and your Kentucky drawl. Rest peacefully Joe, we will love you and always cherish the true friend you were to many. You touched so many young people lives as a geography teacher and your memory will last forever. Jim Phillips

I loved Joe dearly, When I first came to Lockhart in '89 Joe was my mentor. He was a towering figure and I was a bit intimidated at first, but soon came to embrace the love he had for all of his students. He loved what he did and it showed!! I will miss his witty spirit, his sense of humor, his love for the Magic and his Kentucky drawl. Joe, rest peacefully my friend and may God bless you

My prayers are with the Elliot family at this time. Joe was a mentor, confidante, and friend. I never knew a man who could say so much by saying so little, but I will cherish his wisdom and good humor with me always. Joe was to teaching what another Joe I once met, Joe DiMaggio, was to public image and the game of baseball.

From Raney - I am so sorry to hear about your father and wanted to know i am thinking of all of you. i know what a difficult time it is and nothing anyone says can ease the circumstances. I hope you can find some immediate peace in the knowledge he is not suffering here any longer and praying that he is in the arms of God - at home - where we all hope to be through the acceptance of Jesus' sacrifice.
