Joseph Farrell Obituary

Farrell, Joseph Joseph Thomas Farrell passed away on July 7th, 2010. He was born on December 18, 1950 in Elizabeth, NJ. As a child Joe excelled at sports, especially baseball, and was a proud Eagle Scout. Joe graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1972. After serving his country honorably as an officer Joe attended Law School at the University of Georgia where he met his wife, Ann. In 1979 Joe and Ann were blessed with daughter, Jennifer. During his career in Orlando, Joe worked as an attorney and mediator, eventually starting his own law firm. He would go on to teach at the Barry School of Law as an adjunct professor, and in 2008 achieved his dream job when he was appointed a Judge of Compensation Claims. Joe was an avid sports fan and loved to fish. He enjoyed music and history. But above all else, Joe loved his family. This was clear to anyone who knew him. He was so proud of his daughter Jennifer, who attended the University Notre Dame. Joe is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann, daughter Jennifer Farrell Emerich, son-in-law Frank Emerich, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Susan, and his parents Thomas and Dorthea Farrell. The viewing will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home on Ivanhoe Blvd, in Winter Park, from 6-8 PM on Sunday July 11th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10AM at St. Margaret Mary in Winter Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Joe s name to Hospice of the Comforter of Orlando and the Boy Scouts of America. Mrs. Farrell and Family. I worked with Joe at RWBHD&Mc, and just remember him being such a beautiful person. He was always kind and very easy to get along with. His passing is much too soon but he holds a place in Heaven and there is where you will meet again. God be with all of you now and always.

I was out of the country and just got back to hear of Joe's passing. He meant so much to me in my career in the worker's compensation arena. Joe taught me most of what I know about adjusting claims. I was so happy for him when he finally reached his well-deserved goal of becoming a judge. He was an honest and fair man but bottom line, he was a lot of fun. I will miss him.

We had the privilege of knowing Judge Farrell for a number of years.
He was obvioulsy gifted in many ways and shared his gifts through
teaching and through his counsel - which touched and enriched many lives over the years. He was very approachable and just a real pleasure to know. He will be missed. Our sympathies go out to his family and his closest of friends.

My memories of Joe will always be ones of laughing and having a good time. I had the pleasure of working with Joe at Rissman, Barrett for many years. I stood guard to warn Joe to grab his tie off the back of the door or put the darts away when Steve was making his rounds! He loved life and everyone who knew him, knew his love for Jennifer and Ann. My prayers go out to them for their great loss. We will always remember his smiling face. Shannon Wendel
