Jon Hatfield Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Jon Paul Hatfield, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, May 26, at the First Baptist Church Heath, 525 South 30th Street, Heath, with Pastor Noel Dear and Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating.
Jon passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 22, 1938 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Cyrus and Wilma (Smith) Hatfield. Jon was very proud of his family. He enjoyed getting together with them whenever possible, especially Sunday dinner. He loved sharing his heritage and what it was like growing up in Red Jacket and Matewan West Virginia home of the Matewan Massacre and the Hatfield and McCoy family feud. He enjoyed going fishing, and he was one of the greatest couch football coaches around. If you knew him, you would know how much he loved the Lord, and how much he loved you.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Minnie Alice (Scott) Hatfield; four daughters, Alecia (Dale) Walker, Elizabeth (Bill) Whittington, Johanna Hatfield and Sherry Hatfield all of Newark; a brother, Don (Linda) Hatfield of Ravenswood, West Virginia; very dear family friend, Bob Blackstone; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Friends may call prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon on Thursday, May 26, at the First Baptist Church Heath, 525 South 30th Street, Heath.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jon's name in care of the funeral home.
A family committal service will take place at a later date in Wilson Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of Central Ohio for the support and care they were given during this difficult time.
