Kathleen Kraft Obituary

KRAFT, KATHLEEN HARTUNG, age 73 of Winter Park, FL passed away on October 31, 2011. She was born on July 1, 1938 in Detroit, MI, to Helene D. Bushweit and Norman Richard Hartung. The family moved to Algonac, MI on the St. Clair River and later to Clearwater Beach, FL. Kathy graduated from Clearwater High school and attended Florida State University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. After college she worked in Gainesville, Florida in the insurance agency business and moved to Orlando in 1961. She continued working in the insurance business during the founding of Kraft Insurance Agency where in later years she became Vice President. She was also a real estate broker and office manager with Don Saunders Realty for many years. Kathy contributed to the community through her volunteer work in the Junior League of Greater Orlando and at Winter Park Memorial Hospital as well as a trustee of the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation which provides the total financial support for the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, the Country Club of Orlando and an associate member of Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems, VA and a member of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, Kilmarnock, VA. Kathy enjoyed cruising on the family boat throughout the Bahamas, Coastal Florida, the Northeast United States and the Chesapeake Bay near her second home in White Stone, Virginia She loved her beautiful gardens in White Stone; particularly her roses there and orchids in Winter Park. She is survived by her husband of 26 years Kenneth H. Kraft Jr., and his children: Katherine Kraft Decker of Atlanta, GA, Carolyn Kraft Bethel and her husband Charles of Winter Park, FL and son Kenneth H. Kraft III and his wife Lisabeth of Longwood, FL; her son Kenneth Michael Harker and his wife Marie of Taylorsville, KY, her brother Richard Hartung, Carol Orme of Santa Rosa, CA, her sister Joy D. Ferran of Winter Park, FL; and her beloved grandchildren: William Miles Decker, Jr., Katherine Preston Decker, Chase A. Harker, Abigail Caroline Bethel, Claire Frederick Bethel and Emily Elizabeth Bethel A memorial service and celebration of her life will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando on Tuesday November 8, 2011, located at 106 E. Church Street, Orlando, Florida at 2:30 p.m. with a reception immediately following in the King Parlor. A memorial gift in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1400 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32806 or to the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando for the After School Outreach Ministry, 106 E Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801.
