Kenneth Kirchman Obituary

KIRCHMAN, KENNETH P. Kenneth Kirchman, a prominent Orlando businessman and founder of Kirchman Corporation, died at his home in Winter Park on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. He was 72. A Florida native, Mr. Kirchman grew up in the Belle Glade area and has made Central Florida his home for more than 50 years. Mr. Kirchman founded Kirchman Corporation, a privately held banking software innovator, in 1968 and built the company into a multi-national corporation that served over 6,000 banking institutions around the world and employed hundreds of professionals in the Orlando area. Kirchman Corporation was a leading provider of automation software and compliance services to the banking industry and was acquired in 2004 by Metavante Corporation. Kirchman banking software is still marketed and sold by Metavante under the Kirchman brand name. Mr. Kirchman started his business nearly 40 years ago in Altamonte Springs. He founded Florida Software in 1968 on a shoe string but with the big vision of providing advanced software that would automate the millions of transactions a commercial bank handles. He was regarded as a pioneer in this industry and his early efforts were instrumental in the development of the packaged banking software industry. Florida Software became Kirchman Corporation and today millions of people who write checks, or make deposits to their banks have their transactions handled at some point by software created by the Kirchman Corporation. Though well-educated and world-traveled, Mr. Kirchman was known by friends and employees as the quintessential "Florida Cracker." He was an avid outdoorsman and participated regularly in international recreational shooting sports in Argentina, Denmark, England, Ireland, Scotland and Spain. He and wife Deanna spent much of their leisure time at Lake X, their 10,000-acre ranch, which is also a wildlife refuge, south of Orlando. During his years leading the Kirchman Corporation, he was well known for his popular annual company picnics held at Lake X, which was also home to Mercury's famous "secret" proving ground where new engines and hull designs were tested for nearly 40 years. He also hosted large user conferences in the Orlando area with noted key speakers such as Tom Peters ("In Search of Excellence") and entertainers such as Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick. Mr. Kirchman was known by many as a generous benefactor. In 1979, he contributed the Stetson University's first $1 million gift to establish the Kirchman Chair of Humanities. His active and committed interest in the community led him to serve on Stetson University's Board of Trustees and serve as President of the Alumni Association. He was also former Director of Public Radio and Television of Central Florida. He served on former Florida Governor Bob Graham's Economic Development Task Force and was a Trustee of Florida House in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kirchman attended university at Stetson where he earned a B.S. in Mathematics. He has a business degree from Harvard Business School. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law (LLD) from Stetson. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Guided Missile Branch of the U.S. Army and, prior to founding Kirchman Corporation, held positions with Sperry Rand Corporation, The National Cash Register Company and General Computer Services. Mr. Kirchman is survived by his wife, Deanna Pitman Kirchman and niece Victoria Pitman Smith. He has three children, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Ken's life for family and friends Tuesday, March 27th at 11AM. The event will be held at Lake X. The family requests that no flowers or donations be sent. Condolence cards can be addressed to the family and sent to P.O. Box 2519, Winter Park, FL 32790. Arrangements are by CAREY HAND COX-PARKER, 1350 W. Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, FL. 407- 647-1942

A very unique person, a good man, and business talent. I had the privilege to interview with and later work for Mr. Kirchman in the late 90's and admired the man for his business prowess and vision. Of all his accomplishments, the one thing that glares at me when his name is spoken, is that carved door that led to his office. It had to be one of the coolest doors I've ever seen and he was fond of that door. I couldn't help but bring that door up in conversation when I first met him in my interview and that triggered a huge smile on his face. I wouldn't be surprised if that door went with him... My sincere condolences to his family, and may God bless his soul, so that he may rest in peace. Although, I suspect some of that Florida thunder might just be Ken firing off a few rounds now and then. God be with you Mr. Kirchman.

I had the opportunity to contribute to Florida Software Services and the Kirchman corporation in the 1980's. I wrote an ACH application that Kirchman acquired at that time. I was flown down to Florida in a learjet to deliver the software and visit the corporate building at that time. It was a great experience for me and will never forget
it. I also picked up some valuable knowledge. Thank you and regards Ken.. You were a great innovator and business man who had a vision and made it happen !

I never had the pleasure of meeting Kenneth Kirchman but fom all the previous entries he sounded like a true blue proud and honorable American family man and leader. I came across this guest book in my search of the owner of Lake X. For the last 46 years I always take a ride to Lake X when I visit my Gramdmothers house in St Cloud. It was my dream since I was 14 to just view Lake X where Mercury tested all their motors. I am a collector of vintage outboard motors and love to collect pictures and stories of the testing at Lake X. While I realize I will never have the privilage of entering Lake X,
I am happy that the Kenneth P. Kirchman foundation owns Lake X because it sounds like it will preserve the property and put it to charitable use. From all the previous entries I know Mr Kirchman was a wonderful man that is missed by many.

He was a great man. I had the honor of spending time with him and he was just the sweetest man alive. The most down to earth family I have ever known. He was very happy and proud of all his accomplishments. He loved Lake X and wanted nothing more than for it to be a reserve. God bless him and his family always. Wonderful caring, humble people! Thank you for teaching me instead :)

An internet search for Ken Kirchman sadly ended up here. I have been out of touch for many years, but had many memorable moments with Ken and FSS in the '70s.

A special memory was his having my wife and me down from Ohio in 1972. I was a FSS software user and (I found out later) a potential employee. After dinner, he was giving us a tour of the countryside (this was our first visit to Florida) and I mentioned how amazing it was to see oranges growing on trees. Ken immediately stopped the car, went into the grove, and returned with his pockets full of oranges for us. "These may cost me $100 each, but I want you to go home happy!" was his comment.

I remained a user, but as a FURST officer, I got to work with him twice a year for several years. So many wonderful times!

An extra connection I felt to Ken is that my middle name is DeLand, after my great-great-grandfather William DeLand. He was a distant cousin of Henry DeLand, founder of DeLand, Florida. And I discovered this in research at the Stetson library during one of my Florida visits.

I have so many other memories of those days. My delayed condolences to all of Ken's family. And how lucky you are to have been his family!

life is to short to be right all the time. " is that right" was my favorite of words you used! when we went hunting and got lost at lake -x with dan the man. and we had to walk through swamps after swamps and we were so lost. your property was uncharted territory even to me. we also saw people hunting on the old melbourne highway. And you lifted your ar-15. and put it on fully automatic, and let it ran out. luckily you made me not scared of alot of things. its because of you, and your great deeds towards the family. we are strong today. i wont back down from anything grandpa. i saw you few times. as a boy i got into a little bit of trouble when i was young. but you still accepted me for who i am. i miss you lots grandpa.when i go to an atm. i remember you made 97.6 percent of that atm software. in a deposit. transfer or check. i will always want to see you in the after life. one day we will be reunited. hugz. with (grey shirts)

Dear Dianna,
I only met you once at your home, probably 20 years ago, but wanted to say what a loss it is that your husband is gone. I just found out on a recent visit to Orlando.
Although I hadn't seen him in 20 some years (been living in Africa for the last decade), there was still a profound sense of loss that he was gone. He was truly larger than life. I remember one party at your home that my husband and I attended (your 25th and 50th birthdays, perhaps?)and you had such a lovely ballet, and you just had to say that he (and you!) did everything to such an amazing standard! I wish you the best and great happiness in your future life, and many good memories.

Deanna:

We just learned of Mr. Kirchman's passing we were saddened. A good man has moved on to the next adventure.

I first met Mr. Kirchman when I attended a Kirchman County Fair at Lake X with my now wife Julie Seguin Altman. She worked for Kirchman Corporation from 1995 until we moved to TN in 2002. We now own a small vacation cabin resort in Henderson TN. We were inspired by the numerous stays at the Lake X cabins we were blessed with. Our facility is nothing like Lake X, but the way we maintain our cabins and treat our guests were again is inspired by the way Ken maintained his and interacted with his guests.

We have thought of him often after moving here. We enjoyed the conversations we had with him on the ranch and found him to be a real "down to earth" kind of guy and easy to talk with. He will be missed by all.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Kirchman's passing. I read about it in our fraternity magazine. I would like to just send my condolences. He always had a special place in his heart for both Stetson and our fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi. I remember him graciously allowing the use of his home and offices for various fraternity functions, and this was 25 years ago. I have often followed the success of his company and hope he truly had a chance to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He taught me a lot about life just watching him in his. For someone who had already done so much, he had a great humility and care for others. I hope and pray that you always have fond memories, and that his smile shines down on you from above. Regards.

As I sat and read "A Land Remembered" for the 5th or 6th time, Ken's excitement and his smile came to me very clearly. He gave me the book and it has become one of my most prized treasures. I have never met anyone who cared so much for the land and the animals that depend upon it.

Truly, there will never be another like Ken. He taught me so much.

Dear Deanna and Victoria,
It was truly a sad day when I learned about Kenneth's death. He had such a calm manner and winning smile about him the last few months of his life. I enjoyed driving him to Lake X and making the occasional sandwich for him. He shared so many memories of Stetson University and his hunting trips that I felt privileged to be in his company. Although our aquaintance was brief, it was well spent. Blessings to the family for peace and comfort.

to Deanna and family,

I am so sorry to hear that Ken passed away. He was a uniquely wonderful man who greatly impacted my life. He was above all a visionary, who to this day, stays with me in thought. He always encouraged us all to never be afraid to fail to find success. I can't tell you how many times, like Ken, I've wanted to make someone read the book "A Message To Garcia". It never really was about the the silly book...it was all about the message..He believed in never letting obstacles or excuses get in the way of a personal mission. My only regret is not telling him sooner, how very much he meant to me and what a lasting impression he has had on my life. My deepest condolences to you and yours ~ formerly, Jeanette Brown (HR Director 1992-1996)

Dear Deanna,
I was so saddened to hear of Ken's passing. I first met Ken at his Altamonte Springs home in 1975. I have considered him a friend for all these years. Brenda and I have so many fond memories with you and Ken on the Board trips, FURST Conferences, the Fair and my annual Lake X trips.
Ken had a great impact on my life as a person and as a banker. No person has made a greater contribution to the banking industry's operational area than Ken. The week after the company sale, I talked with Ken and thanked him for helping me so much and for the wonderful times we had together. I will never forget him.
The Memorial Service was beautiful and a fitting tribute to a great man. God bless you, your family, and the entire Kirchman family.

It was an honor to celebrate and pay tribute to the life of Ken Kirchman at his beautiful Memorial Service planned by Deanna. Ken was smiling down on all of us and delighted by the expression of all of your memories. Deanna, Ken was so blessed to have you by his side for so many years. His eyes twinkled when he spoke of you. Your high energy and approach to life was treasured by Ken. Deanna, I will see you soon my friend. Having known Ken for more than 20 years and working side by side with him for most of those years I can't began to describe the lessons learned and the leadership examples Ken provided so many. Ken had a profound impact on my life for which I will always be grateful. Victoria, you were so very special to Ken. He cared for you deeply. God bless the entire Kirchman family.

I believe I learned more about the art of selling in the two years I worked for The Kirchman Corporation than any other time in my career. Ken's vision that everyone in the corporation, from our limousine driver to the President of Florida Software, participated in and benefited from our sales efforts was a unique corporate philosphy. Ken recruited some of the most talented, dedicated, enthusiastic people it has ever been my privilege to work with. He demanded the best from all of us and accepted no less.

Deanna & The Family Circle
We were very shocked and saddened when we heard the news about Ken. Our
thoughts and heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all at this very
difficult time. I had the privilege of meeting Ken on his many visits
to Northern Ireland where he enjoyed the pheasant shooting at Tandragee
Castle. Ken was one of the few human beings who took great pleasure
seeing other people enjoy themselves. Heather and I have fond memories
from visiting Lake X whilst on honeymoon. One of these memories is on
our arrival, Ken greeted us, casually dressed in shorts and Tee Shirt,
he was in the middle of repairing a basket ball hoop which was required
for fun and games that he was providing for his staff who would be
visiting Lake X for a company day. After showing us to our cabin he
explained to us that Leke X was at our disposal. At that particular
time Mercury were carrying out tests on one of their boats on Lake X,
as we were not proficient sailors we did not venture out unto the Lake
incase we disruped the tests. Abour an hour later Ken returned to see
how we were settling in, he asked us why we had'nt ventured unto the
lake we explained about Mercury. Without a word and a typical smile Ken
disappeared, 20 minutes later he returned and told us he had moved
Mercury to another part of the Lake and the Lake in front of the cabins
was all ours. This act along with many others of kindness will always
keep Ken's memory alive in our hearts.

Lots of love Robert & Heather Brown

He was always a very down home person, always with a smile and a friendly greeting. Although he may not have known me personally I always felt the had a genuine interest in my opinion. Fond memories overcame me when I heard of Ken's death. Our bank in Gulfport was one of the first users of the OMNI product which endeared me to the product and the man behind it. I will always remember the unbelieveable experiences with Ken and the Kirchman Corporation family. My most sincere condolences to his immediate and extended family.

I have read of all the accomplishments Kenny made in the business world and I know all of you were proud of him, but my memories of your family go back to your early years growing up in Belle Glade. I always felt like I was a part of your family and spent so much time at your home and on vacations with all of you. I felt like that was my second home. I know how hard this is for all four of you to lose your older brother, but hopefully it will help some to know so many Glades folks care about all of you...With Love, Claudia

We have known each other for a very long time and I wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers....as is Kenny. I had the privilege to know Kenny as a teenager and going through good old BGHS together with you all....it has certainly lost one of it`s best. As I read, he became a "man of all men". ..take comfort in that. I feel very fortunate to have known Kenny in his early years....my love and prayers to you all

Dear Deanna and family, I had the privilege of working for Ken in the VERY EARLY OMNI days. The wealth of knowledge and experience that I obtained while at TKC was invaluable.
Deanna, I have special thoughts and prayers for you as I so recently lost my own husband and partner.

God Bless You.

Dear Ronnie, Arlene, Jane and Archie-
The "Glades" has certainly lost one of it's favorite sons! Kenny was an extrodinary man in the business world and will surely be missed but we know your loss is much more personal. We are thinking of each of you- and Kenny- with fond memories.

Deanna,my sympathy to you and all of Ken's family. It was my privelege to work for Ken and to be his friend. I believe that I learned more from Ken than from anyone I have ever known. He was a great motivator and visionary. He could not only see over the next hill but the hill three hills down the way. He changed the life of everyone he met.

I never met Ken Kirchman. I was a most fortunate guest of a Kirchman employee at Lake X. Visiting a place with such pristine beauty was a wonderful, spiritual experience., one I will always cherish. I so admire Mr. Kirchman's attention to conserving this beautiful part of Florida. There is such a sense of peace there. Thank you, again for making a special day in my life possible. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ken's loved ones.

My sister forwarded me the notice of Mr. Kirchman's death. I am so very saddened. I immediately thought of the good times associated with the Kirchman name.
While reading the obituary, I came across "during his years leading the Kirchman Corporation, he was well known for his popular annual company picnics held at Lake X..." My sister, Nina Wiley, always invited me and my son, Edward as her family to the annual event. She is a longtime employee of Public Bank and knew Mr. Kirchman and his company representatives very well and was always sent an invitation.
Edward was just a little boy and always had a wonderful time. We still have stuffed animals from those events; in fact, last week I moved them all out of his bedroom closet when preparing to paint. When he was home from FSU over the weekend, he went through them; "oh, from the Kirchman Fair!" he said.
After we attended the event one year, we took a photo of him on the couch surrounded by all of the stuffed animals he had won at the event. He sent it to Mr.Kirchman with a thank you note.
One of the fish we brought home one year (Goldie) lived for four years!
We always told Edward that after the Kirchman Fair, he had to "come back to the real world!" We ALL had to come back to the real world!
I am sending good thoughts your way.

I thank God every day that I had the honor of working for and knowing Ken Kirchman. His insight and business sense combined with his wonderful quirky ways will always bring me great memories. Having worked for the Kirchman Corporation for over 10 years, and having the honor of being a member of his beloved Lake X, I will always be grateful for the experience and a better person for having known him as a leader and a friend. Rest in peace, Dear Ken. Peace and comfort to Deanna and his family.

I have known Ken since 1972 when I was an early customer of Florida Software. We have been friends all these years although recently with limited contact. Some people considered Ken a controversial figure, but I cannot think of another person who made a bigger impact on bank information technology than Ken Kirchman.
Rest in peace, Ken

I only worked for Kirchman Corporation for only two short years in the early 90's when I was just out of college and newly married. I learned so much. All the creativity and commitment to excellence were contagious. Mr. Kirchman surrounded himself with quality people. When I went on to pursue another industry, I quickly learned that a company's morale is set from the top down. Working there was one of the most positive work experiences I had--I was always learning something. When my husband and I started our company several years ago, I reread my copy of Message to Garcia. I was so proud, and still am, to have been part of the company he founded and experience its traditions. My deepest sympathy to Deanna and his entire family during this time of loss.

To hear of Ken's passing was one of the saddest days in my life. To think back over the years of highlights, I will never forget the experience of learning to Scuba Dive with Ken and then heading to the Bahamas for our check-out dive. I attribute any success I have had in my business life to Ken's mentorship.

Ken, I will forever be grateful for your contribution to my life.

God Bless your family at this time.

What a unique, ingenious, and leading-edge individual was this man. My 20+ years of service to Ken was abundant of climbs to the top and falls to the bottom. Ken taught me how to be a professional in the software business, how to be a leader, and what the concept of excellence was all about. He also help mold me into whom I am today.

Thank you, sir. You had many friends and several enemies...I will always consider myself as one of the former.

May you rest in total peace and best of luck on your next journey.

Dear Kirchman family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. I was afforded the opportunity to work with many of the most talented people I have ever been associated with while working for Ken. Recruited from Ohio in February, it was an easy sell. Jennings Edwards, Vance Kennedy, Bobby Butler, Steve Baker, Rick Durant, Jim Gunning, John Buhler, Mike, Kathy, Carl, Charles, Maurice, Russ, John, Steve Fortsen, Tom Carrin, Paul Gushee, John Venable, Dick Wolfe, Ralph, Bahram, Bob Parr, John Pizzano,Carter, Lou Ann, Theresa, and the list goes on forever. I'm sorry for all of those I failed to mention, but Ken rest in peace, you were definitely a positive influence in my life.

There are turning points all along the way in one's life. Meeting Ken and later joining his young company was a major crossroad for me. Many of the wonderful individuals who have made entries to this book had the same experience. Opportunities and responsibilities beyond our expecations and sometimes beyond our experience and ability. Ken's own expecation that each of us would be successful for our customers, for the company and for ourselves was always there. His complete support in every way to coach and assist us was never missing. Ken put more into all of us than he ever asked. For me, working with and enjoying life with Ken in many different activities changed my life forever. Like many others, I wish that I could have spent more time with him in recent years. It would have been fun and I would have learned once again from a world class mentor.

Deanna and family, You have my deepest sympathy. I worked for Kirchman Corporation for nearly 14 years, two of them reporting directly to Ken. I learned so much from him, but probably the most important thing Ken taught me was that anyone could be competent at a job, but it was having passion for your work that made you different. That lesson still serves me well.

I will also be forever grateful that he enabled me to introduce my family to the wonders of the real Florida at the Lake "X" property.

Deanna, you and your family are in my thoughts & prayers. I'll never forget all the food you and Ken sent to our house when my husband David passed away 7 years ago.
My family and I have so many fond memories of the Kirchman Kounty Fair and of Lake X.

If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to call on me. I know too well what you are going through, but remember you are not alone. Your family & friends are going to be your strength.

Our heartfelt sympathy to the entire family. Like so many others, Ken and the entire Kirchman Corporation family have made a significant positive impact on my life both personally and professionally. We are the grandparents of Kris Allen, who works for you and Ken so we have known of your family through Kris. May God give you strength and courage and may your happy memories bring you comfort and ease your pain. You and your family will continue to be in our prayers. God bless you.

There are so many memories I have of Ken both personally and professionally. The personal rememberances are ones that always make me smile and generally remind me of his overwhelming generosity. The professional ones are used every day as I strive to operate my organization to execute with the same energy, focus, passion, and determination for achieving results that Ken was always able to achieve. The energy he could generate by simply being in the 711 building was amazing, it always kept us all on our toes. The lessons he taught related to being results focused and never accepting mediocrity are immeasurable in value.

In the seven plus years since I left Kirchman Corporation I often thought of calling Ken to thank him for all that I learned while working with him. I now am very sorry that I never found time to do so.

Ken will always be remembered by those he touched for the rest of their lives. I cannot describe the admiration I have for him or the debts I owe him.

Rest in peace Ken, until we meet again.

I started working for Kirchman Corporation overseas. A few years later I had a chance to work domestically for the company and I jumped at the opportunity. On one of my first projects, I was able to fly on the Kirchman Corporate jet and that's when I met Mr. Kirchman. We began talking and he was genuinely interested in how I was coping with working and living in the United States. I shared some of the ups and downs I faced being a foreigner. One of which was how I could not get a car loan because I didn't have any credit history in this country. Ken made a few phone calls and the next thing I knew I had a guarantor for my loan and a new car! I will forever thank him for his kind and generous heart. My prayers go to his family.

March 21, 2007

My deepest sympathy to the family of Kenneth P. Kirchman and to Deanna. I had the honor to be one of Ken's Executive Assistant's and work along with my other great half...Jeanette. I was blessed to work along side a great man who was inspirational in everything he did. I will never forget how “embarrassed I would be” when you would use me as a example of being a person to put in the Millionaire club...you would say “I want everyone in the club even Nyma”. What wonderful memories Ken!

You will never lose your light and your honesty and your sense of humor! You were a gem! Thank you for hiring me and for giving me a future...since dating was TABOO…oh uh….I was able to marry the “most memorable Bachelor of lifetime…….a great "Kirchman Man" – who always told you “that he was not married –he was married to the company” but that changed in 1992 when I married Carter Whitmire who had far more memories than me (many, many years at TKC) but TOGETHER we are happy to share a great marriage and our wonderful children. To this day when we drive by TKC my kids say “hey that’s where you and Daddy met”. Our life that started with TKC....The Kirchman Corporation....long lives your memory. God Bless you Kenneth! We will always keep our “Message to Garcia”….we all will continue to take “the challenge” together in life and believe in THE CONCEPTS!!!

Ken Kirchman was indeed a strong presence and a demanding personality. He was truly a seeker of excellence and a visionary. He was a leader.
As an employee, I always felt my limits challenged and my contributions and sacrifices to any given project necessary and shared. Ken taught us how to "push the wagon" and unlike other bosses I'd had, Ken knew which direction to steer it .
One fond memory I will always treasure is of Ken standing at the entrance to the Kirchman Kounty Fair (in his orange boots!) personally welcoming all the employees and their families. He didn't need to do that, but he did.
My thanks to Ken for his generosity and my sincere condolences to Deanna, his family and his many friends.
Rest in peace, Ken.

My fathers passing was a great shock, and tragedy to all those
lives he touched and all the people whom will always remember him.My father taught me strength,
my father taught me survival.I will always remember how he helped me learn to be brave, with no fear
of trying anything in life. He taught me positive thinking, for as children on family trips we always listened to Zig Ziegler inspirational tapes, or the Boston-Pops.I was proud of his many acomplishments and hard work.I loved him dearly as my Dad. We traveled the world with him and Mom growing up. They believed in teaching through experience, how greatfull I am for those memories. I am blessed with many more, and
learned so much along the way.
My heart is sad now, but I know
God has a special place for you in heaven Dad, and you are in peace.
My Love for you always

Unfortunately, it is Ken's passing that has caused so many of us to reflect on our years of having known him. One cannot understate the positive impact he had on me and my family.

Ken gave me the opportunity to work for a "Good to Great" company. Few in their corporate careers ever have that opportunity.

We are sorry that we will not be able to attend the celebration of Ken's life in person, but know that we will be there in spirit.

Two words come to me when I think of Ken: innovation and passion. Under Ken's leadership, I learned more about sales and marketing in 3 years from 1982 - 1985 than all the previous 20 years of business. Learning how to conduct complicated business over the phone is one of the greatest skills I possess and I owe this to Ken. He forced all of us to get outside of our comfort zones and innovate with passion.

Ken was one of the most special and brillant individuals that I've met in my lifetime. His mentorship shaped my career and life like no other. Deanna, both you and Ken are in the thoughts and prayers of my family. We fondly remember and greatly appreciate all the kindness, caring, generosity and sharing that was so you and Ken. The personal and professional memories, all fantastic, of 37 years have come welling up over the past few days. I only regret that I had not spoken with Ken recently to tell him how much he had influenced my life for the better. We will miss you Ken.

Ken was one of the most exceptional people I have ever known. Creativity and Excellence weren't just words on a plaque, they were the natural result of his abilty to bring out the very best in those around him. So many of us are so much better because of Ken. He took us to the top of the mountain and shared his knowledge and his vision of the future with us. My life was made richer having been close to him; I will never forget the joy that doing something really special for someone else always seemed to bring him.

Truly Ken Made this world a better place. Our founder has gone to be with God. For those who knew him well, Our GREAT GATSBY has gone to Heaven.

May You Rest in knowing that you are loved Ken.

I learned more by working for Ken for a few years than I did in any other similar time period in my career. He had a way of bringing out the best in people and getting them to accomplish more than they thought they could.

A significant measure of a person is what he or she accomplishes in their lifetime. Well, by that measure Ken was the most accomplished person I ever met. He accomplished more in his lifetime than most of us could even dream of accomplishing.

I offer my sincere condolences to his family. I hope it provides some comfort to them to know he improved the life of and will be missed by thousands of people.

Dear, Deanna, Victoria, and all that were touched by Kenneth’s brilliance. I offer my most sympathetic condolences and cannot even begin to understand the magnitude of your loss. The brief period of time that I spent with Mr. Kirchman, revealed how great a man he was, but his legacy will be even greater. Mr. Kirchman epitomizes what can come from hard work and a commitment to excellence. Deanna if there is anything I can do to help please do not hesitate to call me.

Our family is blessed with fond memories of Ken and Deanna's generosity. Our lives were touched in many ways, but our most memorable times were those week-end outings at Lake X. Remembering "Mr. Ken" at the wheel of "Hercules" sharing the great outdoors and the annual family carnivals, Ken Kirchman will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace with the nature that he loved and shared. Our prayers are with you, Deanna.

What can I say except that Mr. K gave me so many opportunities in my business career that I would not have experienced if it were not for the confidence and faith he had in me, even when I didn't have it in myself. For over 26 of my 28 years with Kirchman / Metavante I had the priviledge to work for and learn from Mr. K. Thank you for the challenges, successes, and yes the failures I experienced.

My fondest memory of Ken was just a year ago at Lake X when he came driving up on his ATV to visit our trailer to give me some fallen deer antlers just because he knew I would like them. That is the kind and generous man he was. God has welcomed an amazing man into Heaven.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Deanna and Ken's family. I know that God is wrapping his loving arms around you all to comfort you during this difficult time.

It is indeed a sad time to reflect on Ken's passing. But it is also a time to reflect on all that he taught me in the 10 years I worked with him from 1972 to 1982. I heard of his death only a few hours after he died, even though I now live in Namibia, Africa. Several friends rightly knew that I would want to know and grieve his passing and to remember the legacy he left behind for so many.
