Louise Tilly Obituary

TILLY, LOUISE HIGH, 90, of Charlotte, NC and Orlando, FL, died on Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Mrs. Tilly was born on February 11, 1912, in Whiteville, NC, to Annie Pinder High and Oscar High. She was educated in the Whiteville schools and attended St. Mary's in Raleigh, NC, and Queens College in Charlotte in 1934. She married Robert Burns Tilly, Jr. in 1934 in Whiteville, and moved to Orlando, FL, where she lived for most of her married life. Mrs. Tilly lived in Charlotte from 1952-1959, and also had a Charlotte residence for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Charlotte Country Club. Mrs. Tilly was active in Orlando as a member of the Orlando Junior League, Rosiland Club, Questers Antique Club, Orlando Country Club, and First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Mrs. Tilly is survived by one daughter, Anne Tilly Lee, and her husband James G. Lee, of Charlotte NC; two grandchildren, Richard Burns Lee, and his wife Kimberley Lee, of Charlotte, NC, and Elizabeth Lee Archer, and her husband Steve Archer, of Lawrenceville, GA. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Cameron Lee, of Charlotte, and Jessica Archer, of Lawrenceville, GA. Mrs. Tilly was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, in 1994. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Louise Tilly will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC, with The Reverend Colburn L. Colwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A graveside service will take place at 2pm on Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery in Whiteville, NC. The family wants to give special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at her home in Charlotte, and also to her wonderful friends and neighbors in Charlotte and Orlando. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Presbyterian Hospital, Harris Hospice Unit, PO Box 31276, Charlotte, NC 28233. Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Mrs. Tilly.
