I remember MEL. In June '09, a friend found a postcard on E-Bay for Correll Catering. She contacted me, won it on bid, gave to me in early July. There we were right-to-left: Tom, Mel & myself. Remember the picture being taken but never saw finished product. 47 years later-I have a copy. Enjoyed working with Mel in '62 & '63 & driving that old green early '50s Chevy to variouls jobs. Mel's work ethic & attention to detail rubbed-off on this 16 yr old. I JUST made color copy & sent to TOM today, when I thought I would GOOGLE Mel to try & find him. I share your loss in a different way-- Mel was a good father figure, boss & mentor. I worked in food service thru MSU graduation, it started with Mel. Retired from 35 yrs G.M., I still fondly remember loading-up at the kitchens @ 14 & Woodward, the Chevy, GREAT EATING as job perk & great staff to work with--extended family.
I remember it all well--a good time in my life. Thanks Mel & family. From a neighbor on Bates @ Southlawn: RON ROWE-THEY GUY ON THE LEFT.

dear Glenna - I send love to you with Mel having gone "home" and I know it's a bittersweet time. May the Lord keep and comfort you and yours. He was a bright light and taught me things about the Lord during early 70s at Calvary Assember that I never forgot and still share with others as Mel did with me, sometimes thru correction. The main thing Mel taught me is Everything happens from the WORD OF GOD, not love, not wisdom, not bible reading; it's from THE WORD. And now Mel is enjoying fellowship with The Word of God Jesus. Glory..... love you always averill
