Dear Mike,
I still hear your words of advice and thoughts regarding the law. Your presence here on earth was an inspiration, and you continue to inspire as you rest in peace. It was an honor to have met and worked with you...

You were the brightest light. Your giggle still echoes in the back of my thoughts. What I wouldn't give to hear "Hey, babydoll!" or "Madam!" one more time.

I am so sorry to hear the world has lost such an amazing person - it truly is heart breaking. I can't say I have seen or kept in touch with him much since high school - but I will say he left a lasting imprint on my life. I am so sorry for your loss

My sincere condolences to Michael's family and his unbelievable number of friends. For me, my thoughts of Michael I shared on his Facebook page capture what I will miss about Michael.
I'm stunned. Such a loss. I had the good fortune of having Michael in my Government class at Lake Howell. Rarely if ever, does a student walk in on day one and introduce himself and offer to shake your hand, much less begin pontificating on American politics. At first, I thought this is nothing more than a superficial ploy to get on my good side. Was I ever wrong.
It didn't take long after that to see that Michael was the real deal. Uninhibited to be sure, he was quite a character. His level of intellect was off the charts, brilliant in my opinion. He had the ability to articulate an argument verbally or in writing with great passion. Opinionated he was, but always thoughtful and caring. What a treat it was to have him as a student.
I reconnected with Michael four years ago. He wanted to just hang out and have a beer together.
Let me share this from FB message:
(Me) How about one day this week? Tuesday? 6PM? PR's on Fairbanks? Or call me.
May 23, 2011 1:37 am
(Michael) That should work for me, but I'll call Tuesday to confirm. I'm looking forward to this, man.
I arrived first and waited. Michael came in all smiles and full of energy. We didn't shake hands this time. We hugged. But in an instant he was at it like that first day in class. It was as if he had been saving up his thoughts and couldn't wait to tell me. And so we had a beer or two and talked for hours.
Since then, I recommended Michael to a couple of people in the film industry who were looking for an entertainment lawyer. Michael even gave me some free advice over the phone just a few months ago, but ended with, "Just so you know, Mr. Wolter, next time it will cost you." LOL. He did say that he wanted to come out to Boulder soon to hang out and have a beer. I was looking forward to that, just like so many who have posted here probably couldn't wait for their next meeting with this very special person. He's gone now. It hurts to know he's not coming. We are all better for knowing Michael. We should be thankful, but it hurts anyway.
