Robert Dalton Obituary

Dr. Robert P. Dalton Jr. of Maitland, FL passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. He was on his way to one of his greatest pleasures – working with his patients. He was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 16, 1962 to Robert Paul Dalton Sr. and Nancy Catharine Dalton. He is survived by his wife Stacy Tilton Dalton and their two sons, Robert ("Trey") and Tyler Dalton, his parents, his sisters Susan Carney and Colleen Sarp, and his brother-in-law Dennis Sarp. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Patricia Andrews and his brother-in-law Michael Tilton. He attended the University of Florida before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida. He earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, and followed his MD with an internal medicine residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Tampa General Hospital, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center. He then moved to Orlando in 1999, where he began working in private practice with the Orlando Heart Center, and ultimately joined Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiology Group. He dedicated his life to serving others, no matter if they were a patient, friend, colleague, or stranger. One of his largest loves of cardiology was his patient contact, and the opportunity to check in on his patients over many years. Cardiology enabled him to improve a patient's quality of life immediately, something he valued every single day. Not only was he able to do this through his interventional procedures, but also simply by coaching and mentoring his patients. He met his wife of 33 years, Stacy, while attending the University of Florida in 1981 and they were married in 1985. His family meant a lot to him; he cherished his wife and sons dearly and spent with them as much time as he was able. He enjoyed spending time outdoors: snorkeling alongside his relatives and friends in the Keys, working in his rose garden, and pursuing his love of boating and biking. He truly sought to nurture those around him, whether it be through a joke or a shared moment. His caring, jovial, and deep personality is felt and dearly missed by all who knew him. A Visitation will be held from 6 pm – 9 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, 9001 Orlando Ave, Maitland FL 32751. A Celebration of Life will be at 10 am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park, 125 N Interlachen Ave, Winter Park FL 32789. A short reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the Dalton family kindly asks for donations to be gifted to any of the following organizations: the American Heart Association at The AHA website, https://www.heart.org, the Voice Health Institute, https://joe-digregorio-63pe.squarespace.com, or Orlando Health Foundation, https://www.orlandohealthfoundation.com.

Dr. Dalton (or doc) as I called him during our appointments was the greatest doctor and he saved my life (I see that he did that quite a bit which is a testament to his abilities to heal people). I met him in October 2018. He always talked about his parents during our appointments (they were teachers like me) his sense of humor was awesome! He was so funny and sarcastic. He always made sure I was comfortable and teased me about the silly things I would say during our appointments. I just want to thank him for saving me (I wish someone could have saved him). He was so warm and kind. I will never forget his kindness and compassion for his patients. I wish his family nothing but comfort. May god rest his soul.

My wife and I was totally shocked and saddened to hear of Dr.Dalton's fatal accident when I had reason to visit the emergency at DPH. I was away with my family until Dec.23rd. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and colleagues - what a loss! Dr. Dalton saved my life with his skill and I will always be grateful. He was more like a friend and he always told me I remind him of his Dad! He will be surely missed by all. Rest In Peace Dr. Dalton.

Great Person and outstanding Doctor. He really cared for his patients. On one of my visits I mentioned the difficulty of raising teens. Dr. Dalton listened and gave me the great advice to read "Boundaries with Teens: When to Say Yes, How to Say No"; best advice and given by a cardiologist. He truly cared for his patients. It is a great loss for everyone.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Dr. Dalton. My sympathy goes out to his family, patients, and friends. He and I first met in the early morning hours of September 8, 2012, when he saved my life by responding to an emergency request for a cardiologist at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. After I later thanked him for saving my life, he responded in his usual casual, calm, and no-big-deal manner: "That is what I do."
He will be greatly missed.
I pray God's Psalm 91 protection, comfort, and healing over his family.

I am a RN at Orlando Health but recently met Dr Dalton as one of his patients. What a wonderful MD and person and such a tragic loss.We laughed because I waited less than a minute for him to come into the exam room after RN left. He said give him a 10 on the press ganey survey which of course I did. God Bless him and my sincere sympathy to his family and other patients.

Our community has a great loss. In 2007 Dr. Robert Dalton gave my husband the will of a better life after his heart was so badly damaged. His visits to Dr. Dalton consist of their talking of planting roses and citrus tree. John enjoyed bring him oranges. Dr. Dalton was my cardiologist. I was always confident in him and any of his decisions. I will truly miss him.
God Bless the Robert Dalton family! His memory will ive on in our hearts!! He was a great human being!

Dr. Dalton took over the care of my father from a doctor who retired with his group, that said there was nothing more that could be done for our father as it would most likely result in death due to the damage to his heart arteries/valves and that he had all of the surgeries/heart caths he could handle. Dr. Dalton was a young physician taking over our father's care and said that he wanted to do a procedure that would extend his life expectancy and was confident that he would survive. We were scared of the number of years he had practiced, and that he was going to do a procedure that may not come out favorable. The rest is history many years later, our father is now 87 and doing well. We thank Dr. Dalton for his wonderful talent, love, faithfulness and commitment to his patients. We are so very sorry that he has left us, but so very thankful that he saved and affected so many lives. He is now a guardian angel looking over All. God be with your family in this most difficult time. There are no words that will help, but so many prayers are being said by all who knew him and your family.

Dear Mrs. Dalton, Trey & Tyler: We were shocked and extremely sad to hear of Dr. Dalton's death. He became my cardiologist in 2001 when I had a massive stroke after previously undergoing three different open heart surgeries. He had taken wonderful care of me since and became my wife's doctor also.
He was caring, compassionate, friendly to his patients always listening and offering good advice. He loved his family and was proud of his sons as was evident whenever we asked about them.
We offer our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to you all at the tragic loss of such a fine man and doctor. May God give you comfort and strength during this difficult time.

My Wife and I were blessed to have Dr. Dalton as our heart doctor. We are deeply saddened by the loss of this Husband, Father and Physician. His obituary says it all in describing this very capable man. He always took time to visit with us as his patients. I enjoyed his scuba diving adventures with his Father. Every since we learned of this terrible tragedy we have prayed The Holy Spirit would wrap his tender arms around each member of the Dalton Family.
Further, our community has been deprived of a most learned teacher of the heart and his ability to help those of us to recover from our heart deficiencies.

Dear Trey and Tyler:
You don't know us, but your father saved our father's life almost nine years ago... and your father actually thanked ours for allowing him to do so! That most awful period of our lives has always been brightened by your father's kind and generous character as well as his skill. The biggest blow to our father's heart since March 2010 was hearing the news on December 17. As we all age we learn more acutely that time is precious, so thank you both for sharing some of your father's time with us... the time he committed to our family has given us so many more wonderful experiences and memories. We want you to know that we will honor your father's spirit and energy for the rest of our lives, and forever be grateful to him.

I knew Robert Dalton as a Saint, a gift from God, as I was in critical condition,
rushed to ORMC suffering a widow maker heart attack in 2008.
From that day forward, he became my hero, physician, counselor
and most importantly a friend over the years. My wife suffered a
heart attack in 2017 and he became her physician and helpmate also. I
remember her going to the office for a post-check up with a list of 14 symptoms she was feeling since her surgery. He patently listened only to grab the list, tear it up and say normal, anything else? and made us laugh. Then he touched her hand and gave assurance that all was fine.

We will miss him dearly, our hearts are broken and will miss his smile, humor and caring nature. We send our love to his family who are affected so deeply.
We will miss him greatly. Russ and Kathy Brunning

Our heartfelt condolences to the family. My wife and I were shocked to learn of Dr. Daltons passing. He has been my cardiologist for over a decade. Warm friendly and reassuring are my words. He often used my wife's discount forms, gladly proffered, for vacations and work. That such a man, such a valuable asset to the community has been taken from us, seems unfair. He is and will forever be truly missed.
