Sandra Southwick Obituary

SOUTHWICK, SANDRA L., passed away peacefully March 27, 2009, at home with her loving family at her side after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Greenville, SC, to Leo and Sadie Brosche. Sandy grew up in Orlando and attended Boone High School (class of '62). She is preceded in death by her father, Leo; and her brother, Tom (Sandy) Brosche. She is survived by Dale Southwick, her devoted husband of 39 years; and her loving children, daughter, Holly (Eric) Guenette and son, David (Erica) Southwick. She is also survived by her mother, Sadie Brosche; brothers, Leo
(Connie) Brosche III, Richard (Pati) Brosche, David (Sara) Brosche and James (Becky) Brosche; and a sister, Barbara Brosche, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy devoted her life to her husband and family, was a true inspiration to all who knew her, and was blessed with so many close friends. Aside from her family, her passion has always been reading. In the last few years she became an avid scrapbook artist, leaving her children with a creative and memorable legacy of their childhood. Her favorite place was on the porch of her family's beach house in New Smyrna Beach, just enjoying the views, sounds and smells of the ocean. Sandy will be terribly missed by all. A visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando Monday, March 30, 2009, at noon followed by a funeral mass at 1PM. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the medical staff at M.D. Anderson and the Hospice of the Comforter for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center's Orlando Cancer Research Institute or Hospice of the Comforter in Orlando.

Dear Dale and family,
The notice that this is the 10th anniversary of Sandys passing popped up in my email. I think of her so very often while knitting or crocheting as we spent countless hours doing together. Grateful to my late sister, Patty Landers, for bringing Sandy into our circle. She and my sister were true gems! Missing both and hoping that you are ok.

Dear Dale, Holly and David.
I just heard the news about Sandy. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. She was a special lady and good friend. I have so many memories of her through our years in Tequesta. "Mrs Sow-Sow", as my youngest son Matt fondly and lovingly called her, will be deeply missed. I pray that God grant you the peace that He has given to her.
Fondly,
Jo Steffes

I am so sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I have many memories of Sandy and I with our girl scout troops and all the fun we had. We could talk for hours no matter how long it had been since we chatted. She is home with Jesus and no longer in pain.
God bless

To Sandy's family,
I was so saddened to hear of her death. She really fought the good long fight. I know from long conversations with her especially in CT that she was so very proud of the kids and what they were doing in their lives. Her love for you all provides many wonderful memories that you sustain you all.
She saddly joins my Doug in heaven(10.28.09)but we can truly rejoice that they are surronded by many who love them that take care of them enveloped in God's arms.
God bless you on this sad day of her interment and hold each other close.I will be thinking of you on this day.
