Thomas Croft Obituary

Croft, Thomas Robert died on March 19, 2021 in Plano, TX. Tom was born in San Francisco, CA on January 28, 1962 to parents, Carl Louis Croft and Ann Moore Croft. Tom grew up in Winter Park, FL and always considered Winter Park his home. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and skiing on the lakes of Winter Park, and hunting with his father. Tom attended Trinity Preparatory School where he played varsity soccer. He had fond memories of his teammates and of playing soccer for Trinity in Europe. After graduating from Trinity, Tom attended the University of Alabama and Rollins College, where he obtained a degree in finance. Tom then attended Stetson University College of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar Association in 1995. Tom met his wife, Carla Alston, while studying for the Bar Exam and married her in 1995. After working briefly in Florida, Tom relocated with his wife to Plano, TX to be closer to her family. Tom worked as a financial planner in TX.

Tom led a very full life in Texas as a husband and father to his three sons who he adored and who adored him. Tom considered his role as a father as the most important responsibility he had. He was the epitome of a great father, and he spent all of his free time with his boys - camping, hiking, traveling, biking, coaching their sports' teams, swimming, and watching sports. Tom was also the father to several beautiful fur babies (cats). He loved to travel and took the trip of a lifetime to Africa in 2013 with his parents and sons, Tommy and Michael. Tom was a wonderful cook, and he spent many hours preparing delicious dinners for the family. Tom was a kind and considerate friend and had a great sense of humor. He never ran out of fun and interesting things to say, and he sparked life into all of his conversations. He always had a smile on his face and kind words to offer. Tom was a strong believer in Jesus Christ, and he spoke regularly about his faith. Tom was predeceased in death by his parents, Ann and Carl Croft. He is survived by his wife, Carla Alston Croft, his sons, Thomas Robert Croft, Jr, Christian Carl Croft, Michael Alston Croft, sisters Elizabeth Croft Jewett (Skip), Orlando, FL, Lynn Croft Reeves (Jack), Hanover, VA, and his nieces and nephews. Tom will be most remembered for his devotion to his children.

A Celebration of Tom's life will be held at All Saints Church in Winter Park, FL on Friday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in memory of Tom to Altruistic Day Habilitation, 3013 W 15th St, Plano, TX 75075, https://www.alttx.org/#/, https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/altruisticTX

Tom and I were summer term classmates at Rollins in the early 80s. I remember the two of us arguing with our economics professor who insisted public radio wasn´t sustainable. Today, on the 50th anniversary of NPR, I cannot help but think back fondly on those discussions. It saddens me to learn of his passing. Please accept my condolences.

Beth & Lynn: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother, Tom, at such a young age and so soon after your Mom's and Dad's passing. I'm feeling like I'm losing a neighborhood "kid brother" in recalling those years of backyard football and carpool trips to and from TPS. I pray that God will comfort you in your grief. Rest in peace, Tom. You were a wonderful soul. Blessings, Jeffrey

I am sad to hear of Tom's death. I remember Tom from our Trinity Prep days and specifically from English class. He definitely had a great sense of humor - one might say that he was impish.
I wish you all peace and grace.
