Thomas Mullet Obituary

Mullet, Thomas MULLETT, Thomas A., 93, of Lebanon, OH died Monday April 14, 2014. Born May 31, 1920 in Wilkinsburg, PA to Roy T. and Buhl (nee: George) Mullett, he was a 1942 graduate of Purdue University. A WWII US Army Air Corp veteran, he retired from Exxon Mobil in 1984 after many years as an Engineer and Project Manager. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the President's Clubs of Purdue University, the University of Michigan and Hillsdale College, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and the Otterbein Lebanon One Room Schoolers Group. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen(nee Miller) Mullett, and one brother, Robert P. Mullett, Tom is survived by a son, Michael A. (Patricia N. March) Mullett of Columbus, IN, a daughter, Barbara G. Ladewski of Ann Arbor, MI, five grandchildren, Lisa (David) Whitehead, Katie Ladewski, Samantha Edwards, Lee Edwards, and Megan Mullett, and three great grandchildren, Jim McNeely, Abigail Whitehead and Olivia Whitehead. Mr. Mullett will be greatly missed by his extended family and many friends because of his engaging personality, keen intellect, insatiable curiosity, limitless creativity, boundless energy, and contagious joy for life. A loving husband, parent, grandparent and great-grandparent, he was devoted to and revered by his family. A man of sterling honor and integrity, he was a witness to his religious faith. A patriot and a veteran, he loved and served his country. A brilliant engineer and project manager, he achieved great success in his professional career. An active volunteer, he was a respected leader in his community. In sum, he lived his long life so well that even after death he will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who knew him. Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with memorial service immediately following, both at the Otterbein Lebanon Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: the Hart One Room School Fund, c/o Warren County Foundation, 118 E. Main St, Lebanon OH 45036; the Thomas A. and Ellen Miller Mullett Scholarship Fund for Academic Achievement and Community Service, c/o Friends of Academics, Lebanon High School, 1916 Drake Rd., Lebanon, OH 45036; or the Otterbein-Lebanon Wood Shop, c/o Otterbein-Lebanon Business Office, 585 N SR 741, Lebanon, OH 45036.

I came to know Mr. Mullett only during this past year and was impressed by his gentlemanly demeanor and his continued participation in his community even at his advanced age. He is a great example for all of us as we age.
