Wendell R. Valentine

VALENTINE, WENDELL R. (VAL), a Man of many accomplishments. Wendell R. (Val) Valentine, LCDR RET. USN, started his career at the age of seventeen as a naval seaman. He was proud to serve his country for 28 years, working himself up the ranks, serving aboard the USS Stickleback 55415, USS Sennett SS408, USS Cabezon SS334 and the USS Orion AS-18 and finally ending his naval career as the Head Security Officer of the Submarine Base in Groton, CT. He received numerous awards throughout his career, he was honored with a Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. He is still highly respected by many of his peers. His second career was as a District Manager for Radio Shack and most recently a manager of H&R Block in Oviedo. His most significant accomplishment was being a loving and devoted husband to Joann, his wife of 51 years. He is also the proud father of five girls and a very special grandfather of eight; a strong family icon and a friend to many. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Joann, the love of his life; his daughters, Jennie Friedlander (David), Babe Rhyne (Chuck), Wendy Pratt, Susan Euliano (James), and son-in-law Mike Klenovich; and his grandchildren, Beckie, Shawn, Valerie, Ashly, Chad, Kiel, Brandon, Jenna and lots of family. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Lynn Klenovich. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
