MICHAEL HUNT It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael James Hunt, 89, a beloved husband, father, and cherished friend who departed from this world on March 29, 2024, at his home in Lewiston, Michigan. With a heavy heart we bid farewell to a man whose lively conversations brightened the lives of all who knew him. Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 24, 1934 to the late John and Euphemia (McDonald) Hunt. Michael served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He has resided in Lewiston with his wife, Marie Elisabeth, since 1985. Michael retired as a Lieutenant of the Detroit Fire Department. He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Knights of Colombus. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and in the past served on the Mio School Board and as County Commissioner for Oscoda County. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, biking, fishing, and hunting. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Elisabeth Hunt of Lewiston; children, Laurie (Matt) Larsen of Fort Worth, Texas; David Hunt of Biloxi, Mississippi; Colette Hunt of Westland; six grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Alexis, Megan, Codee and Arielle; brother, John (Josephine) Hunt of Sterling Heights; cousins, Mary Wagner of Sterling Heights; and Pat Barney of Lewiston. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the rosary service beginning at 6:15 PM followed by a vigil service at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Hunt will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fr. Al Pilarelli officiating with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow services at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations have been suggested to the family to be disbursed to their charities of choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home.
