Anita Hinz Obituary

Anita Hinz, formerly of the Van Dyne area passed away on August 15th, 2025.

She was born in the township of Eldorado on August 3rd, 1932, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Weber) Hass. She married Reuben Hinz on November 3rd, 1950, at St. Johns Lutheran Church Nekimi.

Anita was a fulltime homemaker and seasonal worker at Miles Kimball. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Nekimi where she shared her talent of baking for bake sales and more. Her grandchildren knew her as the "Queen" of banana bread and endless Christmas cookies. She was proud of the immaculate homestead she and Rube owned, where many of the best memories were made. Anita enjoyed music often leading her family's singing with her organ or accordion. She played by ear and was amazing at both. She enjoyed playing games and having fun with her grandchildren, a grandma young at heart. She always greeted people with smiles and cheerful disposition. She was so easy to love.

Anita is survived by daughters, Sharon Schultz of Oshkosh, Shirley (Fred) Sonnenberg of Vand Dyne, Judy Nelson of Fond du Lac, and a son Alan (Valerie) Hinz of Berlin; grandchildren, Ryan Schultz, Brad Schultz, Bob Sonnenberg, Rod (Heidi) Sonnenberg, Nikki Sonnenberg, Jason Nelson, Jaclyn (Ben) Sheaffer, Alex (Becky) Hinz, Ben (Fiancee, Angie) Hinz. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-great step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, as well as special people, nephew Jim Hinz, niece Marlen Schultz, and cousin Donna Schuettle. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben (2014), sons-in-law, Alan Nelson and Ron Schultz; her parents; brothers Arthur, Albert, and Norbert Hass; sisters-in-law Elsie and Audrey Hass.

Per Anita's wishes, a private graveside service with immediate family will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Nekimi, with Rev. Bill Greunstern officiating. Arrangements were entrusted with Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes of Oshkosh. A memorial has been established.

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at the residence at Oshkosh and Preceptor Hospice. A memorial has been established.

It's time to get the polka songs on, Rube, she's coming home.
