Ethan Luaders Obituary

On Saturday October 5th Ethan was struck and killed by a drunk driver in Oshkosh, WI.

Ethan was a unique, adventurous, empathetic person with a brilliant and curious mind. He loved people and meeting people. Ethan was very popular and made friends easily. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends from the many different social groups he was a part of around the country.

Ethan got involved with multiple social groups because he traveled extensively and loved learning about different cultures and places. Ethan spent time in Miami, FL as a child and returned to the Caribbean as an adult. Ethan became a big fan of Caribbean culture when he spent three years in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He made many friends there and during his time on the island he was able to become conversationally fluent in the Spanish language. His ear for languages was uncanny.

In addition to his friends in San Juan, Ethan will be missed by friends in Eugene OR, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, Honolulu HI, Miami, FL and of course…Oshkosh, WI.

Ethan had Ojibwa Indian lineage from one of his great-grandmothers. He was very proud of and embraced this portion of his heritage.

Ethan was active in the online gaming community and loved "World of Warcraft". He was able to monetize this passion by creating an on-line "gold mining" business with partners in London, England and Minsk, Belarus.

Ethan enjoyed watching and analyzing movies with his father. Ethan and his father shared an affinity for the Grateful Dead and were able to attend several Dead concerts together.

Ethan was most proud of his six- year- old daughter Akira. He had high hopes for the future of this very bright and engaging young girl. Ethan can confidently know that his extended family will continue to love, protect and nurture his daughter so that she can reach her full potential.

Ethan is survived by: Akira Hunwick-Luaders (daughter), Shawneen Spencer-Hunwick (Akria's mother) Alex and Amanda Luaders (parents) as well as his brother Aidan, Jana Jungwirth (mother), Jonathan Jungwirth (brother). His aunts and uncles are Kelly Luaders and Micheal Dorman, Matthew Luaders and Colleen Luaders. Earl and Nancy Luaders are his grandparents. He shared a life- long special relationship with "Nana" Maureen Sturm and Grampa (the late Jim Sturm.) He was always popular with cousins Stella, Addie, Finn, Libby, Domanic, and dearest friends Jeanne (Anik and Nathan) Koivunen.

Ethan's Grandmother Maureen Sturm was a rock and anchor for Ethan during his too short and bright life.

"Nana Maureen" did more to nurture and understand Ethan, than any other person living. She is especially appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Venue 404 (404 N Main St., Oshkosh, in the historic First National Bank Building) on Thursday, October 10 from 6-8pm.

I didn't know Ethan on a personal level, but I've been following his story as of the night of the accident. I was unfortunately the person who had found him Saturday morning. My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ethan, I hope you all can find peace over time as he watches over you from the gates of heaven.

My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. Ethan will be sorely missed and his memory will live on with everyone who knew and loved him. I would like to acknowledge his grandmother, Ruth Hintz, and his aunts, Niki, Kari, and Jessaka, who were not mentioned in the obituary but shared a special bond with him as well. Wishing you peace and comfort as you navigate this loss."

With love,
