James Dobson Obituary

James was born May 15, 1958 and unexpectedly passed away on September 27, 2022 after just getting home from the doctors and finding out he had stage four cancer, with his family by his side. Jim was born in Niagara Falls, New York and grew up in Texas City, Texas to Alice Russell. Jim liked talking about Galveston and how beautiful it was and always wanted to visit again. Jim loved riding motorcycles, camping, gardening, deer hunting, spending time in the outdoors, fishing, doing things for other people, spending time with his girlfriend, Karen and her Mom, and feeding her cats each day, and spending time with his inherited grandkids. Jim worked numerous jobs until his health deteriorated. He also loved talking to all the neighbors and mail lady.

Jim is survived by Karen, his girlfriend of 13.5 years; his biological children: Christy Dobson-Rohde, James Alan Dobson, Amanda Dobson and Dustin Ross; his inherited kids: Kristine and Tony Leichtfuss, Diane and Travis Voelker; his grandkids: Destin Norris, Malaki Dobson, Summer Dobson and Avonni Dobson; inherited grandchildren: Travis, Teresa, Tracy, and Trevor Leichtfuss, Ben Collins, and Lillianna and Nicholas Meyer; his great-grandchildren: Carson and Bridger Norris, Anah, Maliyah and Kylah Dobson; his second mother and best friend in the world, Margaret Bauer; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Russell; step-dad, Rusty Russell; sister, Melanie Dobson; his son, Jonathan Dobson; his grandparents, Nathan and Gertrude McDow; and Karen's dad, Edward Bauer.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, WI from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a meal and small ceremony at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Poygan when Spring arrives.

Thank you to Dr. Terry and Amanda for all they have done for Jim, to the paramedics and police, and to Father Tom Long for giving Jim his last rights. Thank you to Jessica Stadler for taking Jim to doctor appointments.

Jim my love, God called you home and took all the pain. My heart is heavy but God only takes the best. So Spread your wings and I will see you again someday in Heaven. Love Karen.
