LYDIAN MARIE CROOKS Lydian Marie Crooks, 82, of rural Waverly, Kansas, passed away late Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Overland Park, KS. She was born July 28, 1943, in Noel, MO, the daughter of Samuel and Estella Owen. She spent her childhood in Noel and Anderson, MO. The family moved to Kansas when she was 16 years old, and Lydian (Marie) graduated from Williamsburg High School, Williamsburg, KS. On May 27, 1962, she and Harold Eugene Crooks were married in Burlington, KS. They lived in Silkville and Agricola before moving to their current home in rural Waverly. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage before Harold's passing on August 5, 2022. They enjoyed going to the dunes, camping, Sunday dinners, and spending time with their family. Lydian (Marie) was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, John, Jim, and Tom Owen. She leaves her children, Ricky Crooks and Kelly Crooks both of Waverly; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Owen married to Geri, Ottawa, KS, and Donnie Owen married to Wanda, Leavenworth, KS; a sister, Thelma Russell married to Jack, Galena, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home.
