A. Hignite Obituary

A. "Duane" Hignite, 68, of Midland, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died unexpectedly at the MidMichigan Medical Center Midland on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, after a short illness.

He was born July 17, 1938, in Midland Township, to the late Arthur W. and Thelma M. (Parsons) Hignite. He married the former Sue Lloyd on April 11, 1970, in Midland. He was employed by The Dow Chemical Co. in the Ziploc Bags Dept. in Bay City. He also worked for nine years for the City of Midland Department of Parks and Recreation. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. Duane was a member of the (HOGS) Harley Owner Group. He dearly loved his motorcycle and riding, enjoyed traveling, camping, car racing and rodeos. He will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife Sue; son and daughter-in-law Al and Lisa Hignite of Loomis; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jason Haydon of LaGrange, Ky.; grandchildren, Hunter Hignite Haydon and Zachary Brockway; brothers and sisters-in-law Randy and Eileen Hignite of Indiana and Marlon Hignite and Vicki Vermillion of Midland; sisters and brother-in-law Sharon Hignite of Midland and Janine and Eric Freeman of Midland; and nephew, Shane Laney of Midland. He was preceded in death by grandson, Dale Hignite.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Becknell, pastor of the Midland Missionary Church, officiating.

Members of Duane's family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. and tomorrow morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
