Ann Martin Obituary

Ann Martin
Our beloved mother and friend has left us here on earth to join Jesus Christ in heaven. Ann Brandon Martin, 69, of Midland, died on Thursday, June 22, 2023, after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's. She died the way she lived, peacefully, gracefully, and surrounded by loved ones.
Ann was born on May 5, 1954, in Bay City, TX, son of the late Russell and Ellan Brandon. She grew up in Freeport and Jones Creek, TX, and went on to graduate summa cum laude from North Texas State University in 1976. Upon graduation, she began her career at The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, TX, where, with the help of lifelong friends, she met the love of her life, Jerry. Jerry and Ann married on October 21, 1978, and eventually settled in Midland, MI in 1986.
Ann's musical ability touched the lives of countless people throughout her life. She was a prodigious piano player with an amazing voice, who became the full-time pianist at the First Baptist Church in Freeport, TX while in middle school. She held that position at numerous churches over the next 50 years, with Sunrise Baptist Church being her home for the last 25 years. Ann possessed a unique gift and shared her singing and playing abilities with anyone who asked. In addition to church, she performed at hundreds of weddings, funerals, and other events. Aside from music, her passions were her family, her friends, her church, and The Lord. This is what she devoted her life to. This devotion, particularly to Jerry, who brought her out of her comfort zone, resulted in her spreading her love, faith, and the Word of God to people on multiple continents, doing so alongside her family, her friends, her church, and The Lord.
Ann is survived by her two sons, Benjamin and Matthew (Stephanie) Martin, and her grandchildren Olivia Blair and Hayes Jerry. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband, Jerry.
As someone who was allergic to many types of flowers, in lieu of floral arrangements, Ann would prefer donations in her name be made to Caregiving Network of Midland, a non-profit that was near and dear to her heart. That being said, it would make her particularly happy if you simply performed an act of kindness for someone in need.
Ann's family will receive friends at Sunrise Baptist Church, 2138 N. Jefferson Rd. in Midland, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, also at Sunrise Baptist Church. All friends are invited to lunch at the church immediately following the funeral service. Pastor Mark Weick will officiate, with burial to follow at Midland City Cemetery. I remember singing in the high school choir with Ann...except she never got to sing as she played so beautifully. A loving, kind, and beautiful lady who lived her beliefs.

She left such a mark on so many lives, including mine. I am grateful to have known her and experienced the love of Christ through her peaceful demeanor and genuinely caring heart. Hearing her play the piano and sing was such a gift!

Ben and Matthew,
Sending my condolences to you and your family. I had the opportunity to meet your dear sweet mother while we were getting our nails done on a weekly visit to Lisa´s Natural Nails Boutique! She had the cutest laugh and I loved her southern accent. Ann always spoke highly of you boys and when your dad passed so suddenly, I know a part of her died. I can only imagine the reunion at the gates of heaven when Ann saw Jerry again. Just think they are together for Eternity now. Remember all the good memories and I know Ann is looking down and smiling.
God Bless
