Bonnie Pochert Obituary

Bonnie Lynn Pochert
Bonnie L. Pochert, 67, of Midland, Michigan passed away on July 24, 2023, of congestive heart failure. Born in Ann Arbor in 1955, Bonnie grew up and lived most of her life in Midland, with the exception of her time studying at Ferris University in Big Rapids and a brief time living in the Indian River area. She grew up with a strong sense of family and had very close relationships with her parents and siblings. She enjoyed spending time with the people she loved. One of her favorite childhood memories was attending the downtown Fourth of July fireworks with her dad after he caught her trying to watch them from her bedroom window. As an adult, she worked with her dad at the Associated Family Dental Center as a dental lab technician. She was very artistic and always had lots of ideas and plans for crafts and projects. Bonnie enjoyed playing games, collecting Scottie dog memorabilia, bowling with her league team, and gardening. She had an incredible green thumb! She especially loved being an aunt, great-aunt, and grandmother, and often organized fun activities to do with the special kids in her life. Family was important to her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Darl and Marjorie Pochert, also of Midland. She leaves behind her three children: Abby Brink (Ryan) of Athens, Georgia, Miles Pochert, and Garrett Pochert (Madi), and two step-children: Vanessa Schumann (Travis) of Linwood and Rob Westergard, Jr. (Amy) of Auburn. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jensen and Linden Brink, Max and Rowan Pochert, Luke Pochert, Landon, Peyton, and Avery Schumann, and Braydon Westergard. Additionally, she preceded in death her brothers: Jim Pochert of Kentwood and Darl Pochert (Lisa) of Park Ridge, Illinois, and sister, Becky Gezon (Larry) of Zeeland; her nieces and nephews: Samantha Pochert (DJ Oberlin), Alexandra Edwards (John), and Natalie Pochert, Bryan Gezon (Beth), and Jami Gezon; and her great-nieces and nephews: Connor Pochert, and Evangeline, Thelma, Lawrence, and Rosanna Edwards.
As was typical of Bonnie, she did not want any traditional ceremony. She requested no memorial service or funeral, but wished for her friends and family to remember and think of her whenever they see fireworks. When we lose a loved one, it serves as a reminder of how short life truly is. As a way to honor her memory, all are encouraged to pursue preventative medical care on a routine basis. If you wish to make a donation in her honor, please consider the Reese Endeavor of Midland, Michigan or the Midland Firefighters' Youth Foundation.

Bonnie was one of the most caring and loving people I have known. She was selfless and generous with her love. I asked her to work with me as a patient advocate for elders and the devotion that poured forth from her to the client was shown in her acute attention to their medical and social needs. She loved listening to elders life stories and paid attention to the details. It was not unusual for her to then research books on their topics of interest thereby furthering her own knowledge.
Her life was too short but the years she did grace us with were filled with a deep sense of purpose and dedication to others. In her face I saw the face of God.
