Catherine Lamia Favara (88) of Midland, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022. The daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Licavoli) Lamia, Catherine was born April 21, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Dominic Favara, her loving husband of 64 years, on October 19, 1957. He preceded her in death in January 2022. Catherine attended Saginaw Arthur Hill High School, graduating in 1952. After graduation, she worked in the General Motors offices in Saginaw.
Catherine was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church in Midland. She was an active volunteer with the local blood bank, various ministries at St Brigid's, and was a Yellow Lady at the Midland Hospital for 35 years. She was also a member of the lay Carmelites.
Surviving are her sons Peter Favara (Pascal Jacquelin); Paul (Seleeta) Favara, her daughter Elaine (Steve) Hansen; grandchildren Dr. Christina (Dr. Chris) Wujick, Terence (Cassy) Brown, Jr., Ryan (Becky) Hansen, Grace Hansen; great grandchildren Brianna and William Wujick; sister Grace (Richard) Prebay, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Joseph, sisters Marie Proulx, Vivian Lamia, Frances Debniak, and brothers Frank Lamia and Joseph Lamia.
Catherine's children are thankful for the excellent care she received at Bickford Senior Living (Midland, MI) and appreciate all the wonderful staff who worked with her during her eight-month residence.
A funeral mass will take place at 10 AM on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, Midland. Burial will be at New Calvary Cemetery, Midland.
The family will receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St, Midland between 4 PM and 7 PM on July 17, 2022, and the church on Monday at 9 AM prior to the start of the 10 AM mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church (207 Ashman Street, Midland, MI, 48640).
