Cheryl Lee Bacon, 61, passed away at her home in Auburn on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010. The daughter of William and Mildred (Poland) Post was born in Midland on Aug. 6, 1949. Cheryl attended school in Midland and graduated from Meridian High School. After living in California for 17 years she moved back and purchased a house in Auburn and was very proud to have been able to pay off the mortgage. She was employed with Speedway Gas Station for more than 20 years, working the midnight shift. Cheryl often talked about her regular customers at work. After 2-3 minutes of conversation she considered many of you her friend, not just a customer.
Cheryl will be missed by her parents, Bill and Mildred Post of Sanford. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Tena) Bacon of Lansing and their children. Cheryl will be sadly missed by her sister, Sue (Alan) Hoon of Midland; brother, Dave (Judy) Post of Midland. Cheryl leaves nieces, Alison (Dan) Girard of Midland, Tracie (Scott) Erskine of Sanford, Bridjet Post of Royal Oak, and Tiffane (Dr. Antonino) Colombo of Shelby Twp. She will also be missed by many cousins including a special cousin, Diane, of Salt Lake City.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to everyone who was her friend in Auburn. She always said she really like living there.
A celebration of Cheryl's life will take place at 12 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. The Rev. David Kessler, of Midland Free Methodist Church, will officiate. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society. My prayers are with Cheryl's family and friends. I could always count on her to start my day out right with a story about a customer, her trip to Florida or her asking me about something I shared with her. She will always be missed and early morning coffee will never be the same in Auburn.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to the family of Cheryl Bacon. I was a co-worker of Cheryl's from 1994-1998. I used to work her shift when she would vacation in Fla with her parents and sister Sue. I went shopping with Cheryl at Christmas, sat with her when we had many power outages at the Speedway and she always had a way to make you laugh when you entered the store. I will definately miss her smile and her laugh when I step into that store.
