Cheryl (Cheri) Demers Maxson
Cheri's sunrise was July 6, 1948 and her sunset was February 21, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her winter home in Naples, Florida with her adoring husband, Ron, by her side. Born to Jack and Shirley Demers, Cheri was raised in Midland, Michigan, proudly graduated from Midland High School, attended Michigan Tech University, completed her bachelor's degree at Saginaw Valley State University and had a life-long career with Dow Chemical Company. The accomplishment that eclipsed it all, however, was her exceptionalism as a loving and wildly generous sister, wife, mom and grandmother.
Cheri shined brightly among friends and family, illuminating all with her tremendous warmth and love. She was the life of the party and shared a passion for life and happiness that was easily absorbed by everyone in her company. Although she lived in Lake Orion, MI she would travel far and wide to don celebratory hats, to go hoarse from cheering at sporting events, to get misty eyed at recitals, or to simply show up and dazzle her children and grandchildren with unbridled affection. Generous gifts, surprise visits and her own "nailed it" events in the kitchen will be cherished.
Cheri's shimmer is reflected in those who survive her. Husband of 32 years: Ron Maxson; Children: Erik (Christine)Tauren, Josh(Molly)Tauren, Lana(Gabe)Grijalva, Scott(Shawn)Maxson, Lisa(Hugh)Finklea; Her beloved Grandchildren: Brooke(Aljandro)Chong, Jaclyn, William, Margaret(Tauren), Finnegan, Fiona(Tauren)Gwen, Leah, Violet, Bridget (Grijalva), Michael, Nicholas(Maxson), Maxson, Megan(Godwin); Sisters: Pat(Bill)Card, Peggy Dean, Becky(Dan)Rokosz; Mother: Shirley Demers; Sister-in law: Dolores Jacobs.
Preceded in death by her Father: Jack Demers; In-laws: Bob Dean, Larry Jacobs, James and Joyce Maxson.
Honoring Cheri's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for the spring of 2021. As was her character, Cheri only requested that we remember her not with a tear, but with a smile.
