Daniel Jack Rodammer of Auburn, 73, passed away Feb. 23, 2012, in Bartow, Fla. He was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Flint, the son of Arthur J. and Clara (Steiner) Rodammer.
Dan was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone as a splicing technician and lineman for 37 years. He was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church and enjoyed maintaining the church lawn and serving on the memorial garden committee. As an avid collector of antiques, he specialized in World War II memorabilia and was an active member of the Michigan Antique Arms Collectors Assn.
Dan is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gretchen (Brooks) Penny Rodammer; sons, Grant (Michele) Rodammer of Howard City and Brent (Brenda) Rodammer of Freeland and their mother, Diane Rodammer of Bay City; stepsons, Shannon (Kammi) Penny of Coleman and Christopher (Iulia) Penny of Auburn; six grandchildren, Jessica and Eric Rodammer, Nathan, Shaelyn, Dylan, and Alexandra Penny; as well as two brothers, Arthur (Jan) Rodammer of Burton and Delbert (Eileen) Rodammer of Clio. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucile Behrendt and Gloria Hunter.
Funeral and committal services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2012, from Auburn United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Duane M. Harris officiating. Cremation will follow. Dan's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. On Friday, Dan will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Auburn United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
