Donald Bedore Obituary

Donald L. Bedore, 75, of Midland, died early Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2010, at Brittany Manor. He was born May 2, 1935, in Saginaw, son of the late Harry and Harriet (Boyer) Bedore. He attended Hemlock Schools, graduating from Hemlock High School. Don married the former Gloria Frazier on Nov. 18, 1977, in Midland. He had been a letter carrier in Midland for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring from there in 1992. He enjoyed golf, polka dancing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Don served with the U.S. Army in Austria. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Surviving is his wife, Gloria; two sons, Donald Bedore of Boston, Mass., and Ed (Susan) Schultz of Midland; four daughters, Theresa (Bruce) Kource of Albright Shores, Diane (Roger) Lennox of Coleman, Gail (Gordie) Fassett of Midland, and Bonnie (Jeff) Fassett of Beaverton; five sisters, Sharon (Carl) Schultz of Hemlock, Judy (Jim) Rogers of Hemlock, Joyce Bedore of Saginaw, Jean Inman of Colorado, and Linda Falkenberg of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by one son, Rick Schultz, in 1993.

Funeral and committal services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, from St. John's Lutheran Church. Pastor Matthew M. Makela will officiate, with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Don's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., on Monday from 4-8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. John's Lutheran Church or the charity of their choice.
