Donna B. Ouderkirk
Donna B. Ouderkirk, at age 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Wedgewood of Winter Haven, Florida.
Donna was born on December 4, 1934, in Midland, Michigan daughter of the late Grant Arliss and Agnes (Rutherford) Yager. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Thelma Ouderkirk, sister Florence Schumacher, brother Merle Yager, Son, Dennis Ouderkirk and husband Foster Ouderkirk.
At 16 weeks of age, Donna's mother passed away. She and her two sisters, Thelma (Sally) and Florence went to live with her Uncle Carl and Aunt Jane Ouderkirk in Rosebush, Michigan. As she grew older, she went to stay with her sister Florence and Husband, Marv Schumacher, until she graduated from Williamston High School.
Foster and Donna were married on February 8, 1953, and started their adventure together. Donna worked for the Midland County Department of Social Services. Over their 71 years together, they enjoyed fishing together with their camper and boat. Donna enjoyed flowers, traveling, fishing, bonfires, bowling, crocheting, reading and playing cards.
All who knew her recognized Donna's competitive spirit. Her presence has been missed by her card-playing friends at Spring Haven Senior Living of Winter Haven.
Donna is survived by her Sister-in-law Donna Jean Ouderkirk, son Robin (Julie) Ouderkirk, daughter Lynda (Randy) Fair, Grandchildren Brent (Jenn) Ouderkirk, Lance (Heather) Ouderkirk, Tyler and Travis Ouderkirk, J.R. (Deann) Smith, Marie (Terry) Woodcock. Many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren six half-siblings, Nettie, Clara, Shirley, Bill, Kathy and Frank. She loved her family and will be missed.
The family will receive friends at the Hope Baptist Church on June 27, 2025, for a Celebration of Life for both Foster J. Ouderkirk (passed on January 1, 2025) and Donna B. Ouderkirk from 10 until time of service at 11 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Hope Baptist Church, 5525 N. Hope Road, Hope, MI 48628. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Miller Funeral Home.
The family thanks the staff of Wedgewood for their loving care of "Miss Donna" as if she were their grandmother. Many thanks to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, a Member of empath health for all their caring/loving nature.
Cremation has taken place, and the burial will take place at New Hope Township Cemetery later for the immediate family.
